This game was enjoyable for Payton's RBI and his hustle.
I have to say that I am looking forward to not hearing Jason Benetti on a Sox call for a while. I don't think it's him, though; it's just that he has had nothing to talk about because this team usually just didn't show up. (Like 2002.)
I love the story of Benetti's rise to a major league broadcaster but I don't care for him and his constant inane chatter. The worst was when he and Beckham were together and the guy was constantly asking beckham questions about hitting and other crap. Here he is intentionally asking a guy who was a lousy major league hitter about how to approach hitting the baseball? It most of the time left Beckham having to play the fool and acknowledge what a bad hitter he was.
I guess that AJ cannot be the announcer because he doesn't sugar coat things and as bad as the Sox are FUNDAMENTALLY, AJ probably wouldn't last long before the Sox fired him for being honest.
Speaking about AJ, I often think about what kind of manager that he'd be. He is very smart and focused on winning and I think that he'd lay it on the line to players and the front office. I'd be for it if they gave him the job and make Pauly the bench coach and hitting instructor. It wouldbe interesting how the Hispanic guys would react to AJ , though. Club LaRussa obviously put a lot of smiles on the Hispanic guys faces but I don't know how some of those guys would take an ass chewing.
