Singing karaoke when you really don't know the song but think you do simply because you can read the words off of the teleprompter is actually kind of fun.

It's the best when drinking. Not the people who have performed the same song more than the artist.

Someone once told me that karaoke is for the non singer. They were right.

I don't mind people who are good being sprinkled in, I don't want them to dominate drunk karaoke.

I agree. Its cool to have people that can actually sing, but when you get too many people who seem as if they are actively seeking record deals it kills the fun. Get drunk, get up and there and make an ass of yourself, and then sit the fuck down.

Brando's usually has a good mix.

I dropped in there a few weeks ago. By the time we got there the wait was too long.

I have a buddy (Carlton) who has sworn by Brando's for at least 7-8 years. But I've never been there myself. Semi-etirement is occasionally a bitch.

My wife and I (along with 3 other couples) host a mid-summer karaoke party every summer. Between the 4 families there is always a milestone birthday or anniversary or graduation or SOMETHING to celebrate. The guy we hire each year really does a great job and he loves doing it because every other weekend of the year he does regular gigs with the same people over and over, he calls them the “Star Search” crowd. Our parties are mostly novices and first-timers and we have a rowdy good time every year. He relies on the Star Searchers every week and loves doing it, but you can just tell he really enjoys the randomness and enthusiasm of a private party. Karaoke is way more fun when it is off-the-cuff and friends are submitting random songs for each other with no warning and shit like that.

I do a kick-ass Sinatra version of That’s Life.

I forgot it was still open until maybe 6-7 months ago. It's a real cool vibe.

when spyner's was open, a lot of theatre people would go there for karaoke and you could immediately tell who was going to be trying out for american idol or broadway. i'd be doing dead milkmen and they'd be doing "black velvet" and shit.

The best eulogies are always the ones that discuss getting laid all the time.

My favorite reference in similar but unrelated reference was "Louisiana Black Snake"
