Or you know not allow this behavior in school could be an option too, Mr Binary with obnoxious pseudo arguments.

I'm not afraid of anything. If a kid wants to be a furry they should do it on their own time. When you are at school you are there to learn, and not learn crap, but academic academic crap. It doesn't mean we should bring our full selves wherever and whenever.

Come on! You're my age, and you sound like you're 83. Yes, academics are important. That isn't the only purpose of school though. The social component is just as important. Kids are trying to figure out who they are and where they fit in society. That requires doing a variety of things. Some of them are ignorant.

Kids should literally spend a school year somewhere in 6-8th grade "learning" how to just be decent human beings before they're stuck being jerks. They can pick back up the academic stuff later.

Tranny librarians or virtual school.

It’s one or the other.

I think they are sort of trying it in public schools with the SEL stuff but it's a crock of shit. It could be done better.

If by "we" you mean parents modeling jerkish behavior by being oversensitive busybodies to things many of the kids are fine with in their own schools, sure.

You come on! You're my age and you act as if teens should be encouraged by adults to engage in all types of behavior that they shouldn't so they can find themselves. Not all behavior even if you feel good or feel good about it is good. We should be teaching them to be good decent people, we're not. Lunch, homeroom/recess, study hall, clubs, school social functions are all great places to goof off, talk, laugh, not make out while their teachers supervise it. And when they do ignorant things we should be telling them they are doing ignorant things not saying oh that's great you be you.

When they do ignorant things or make mistakes, sometimes we need to STFU. Mistakes and failure are essential parts of growth and development. Constantly beating kids up for mistakes is harmful. We all did something ignorant as a kid that we later regretted. We learned.

If kids are fine with something we should let them do anything? Kids can be their own arbiters and if not, the school should be or you? They should be taught that whatever their self is or wants to do should always be accepted and celebrated by others even if it conflicts with morals of their parents or reality? All that sounds great til you think about living in a world where kid logic and behavior is what is directing or it's something you don't like. A parents job is to guide them to be a good person not to do or say or think whatever they want.

That's not what's happening though. If kids sneak kisses in school yeah I'd want it to be stopped and as a parent I'd want to be notified. What we are talking about here that you are ignoring is for a teacher not to set it up and encourage it. If my kid were making out with someone at school under the direction of a teacher I'd want the teacher fired. You think they should get an atta boy/girl/xe/etc for shoving their tounges down each others throats in the hallway or in this case a supervised club. Your the dope in both scenarios.

It's possible I missed it. Where is that these kids are being directed by a teacher to engage in shoving their tounges down each others throats?

Why do you think correcting and talking about inappropriate behavior is constantly beating them up? How would you learn or know to regret behavior if nobody told you to? In this case they are fostering and encouraging the behavior, they won't learn it's wrong that way.

I posted the video. There isn't a ton of info available anywhere except for libs of TikTok although I have found that to be reliable. You are free to look into it now or as more information comes out.

You don't have any evidence that a teacher did. If a teacher was pimping kids out, they would be arrested. If what you believed were true, it would be a national story. The far right would have had a field day with this LGBTQ story.

The video with the dancing banana? The only thing I saw there that seemed worth investigating is the inappropriate costume assuming that was a teacher.

So why did you say the teacher was directing them to do any of this?

If you set the standard, and you're consistent about what that standard is, you won't have to correct anything constantly.

Encouraging kids to be who they are and pursue their passions is a positive. Even if those aren't things that we like or enjoy. I support any teacher who fosters an environment like this. We need more people like them.

Fair enough, I'd like to see more on it. I do put faith in libs of TikTok though and what she has reported is inappropriate. They have suspended the teacher. The far right doesn't reach a lot of people. The crazy stuff in Loudoun County and other places has been largely ignored, it's no big deal, or tolerance is needed.

That's refuted by your posit that kids are trying to find themselves and do things they regret and learn from. Either they do stupid shit and need to be corrected or they've been raised (properly) and corrections are not needed. Some people aren't raised well or in the best of circumstances as you know also.

Encouraging kids to be who they are and pursue their passions is a positive is a fluff statement. Sounds great, til it's not.

I hope your daughter ends up in a club where she can grind on another student or look at her phone while somebody is buried in her stomach while a teacher supervises it. You will be so proud.

You don't think those things happened in your high school? I know they happened in mine. Well, not the phone because you got sent to jail for years for having one.

I went to an all girls catholic high school and if it happened I was totally unaware of it. And if it happened it wasn’t right and it shouldn’t be happening now. Are you a freak? Why would you believe this is okay or appropriate at school?

The key word was constant. Curiosity is a vital ingredient in the learning process. Great successes and failures are born from it.

It's not a fluff statement, it's a fact. Those who don't understand that risk extinguishing their child's light or stunting their growth.

I wish nothing but success for your kids. You're hurting. That's been clear for years.

Another in the long line of made up issues that maybe kinda sorta happened if you look at it through a certain lens long enough that we’re supposed to be concerned about. Again there’s plenty of real issues in education without needing to make extra work for ourselves hand wringing over media created ones. There’s no award for being your school’s most concerned parent.

I don't think it's made up. There's plenty wrong and as you alluded to a lot of it is behavior.
