I could care less who has better ratings. Mac has brought up on several occasions that MJH has beat BB in so many consecutive books. Yet a newer more accurate ratings system is used and BB beat MJH and SCR whooped MVP and the best Mac can do is give some non-answer that made no sense and quickly change subjects. I dont like MVP, MJH or Mac, but I respect the guy for coming on here and being so honest. Most radio people are to full of shit or to afraid of the consequences to be as blunt as Mac is here and I think that's really cool. Just seemed like a chicken shit post on his part.

Agree with you on most of your thoughts on your post but tell me where this is a more accurate system and how MJH beats B&B for the last year or so and a new so called accurate system comes in and MJH numbers don't jive ??? Doesn't add up ..And I'll stand by what I say when it comes to what I know and hear from people when it comes to who they listen to. B&B have had the same 10 callers call in for the past year so tell me where they pick up new listeners?

Drinky even has admitted that he listens to MJH during the B&B show....

Let's face it. There is no way they know how many listeners each show has. There are 8 million people in Chicago, the Suburbs and NW Indiana. Who the hell knows who is listening to what at any given point? There is no ratings system that is capable of determining that.

B&B and MJH both have a nice share of adult men I'm sure. I think people are scared to call B&B. Or just don't want to play the B&B game. There really is no point of calling them unless you are calling to agree with them. Otherwise they shout you down and brow beat you. They get dumb people calling them and it's often justified when B&B ridicule them. But people with any sort of intelligence just don't want to bother calling B&B. They get way more stupid callers than MJH. B&B is more of a weird show that attracts the stupid and strange people. We have a lot of weird and stupid people in this city. The B&B show proves that.

Your argument holds no water Bear as Costanza would be B&B'S biggest fan it was based on the weird and stupid.

Of course none of it's 100% accurate but when ratings don't go your way and you use that excuse you sound like Pappy. Many people that filled out the old logs were simply writing it in, which means they could have forgotten who they listened to at a certain time and date or could have put in a name out of loyalty even though they weren't listening to that show, aka, The Steve Dahl theory. It's indisputable the the new PPM method is more accurate, but it's the first book, it could be a fluke for BB.

The Portable People Meter (sometimes mistakenly "Personal People Meter") or PPM, is a device developed by Arbitron to measure how many people are listening (or at least exposed) to individual radio stations and television stations, including cable TV. The PPM is worn like a pager, and detects hidden audio tones within a station or network's audio stream, logging each time it finds such a signal. It has proved to be much more accurate than the old handwritten logs or wired meters, and is immune to forgetful test subjects.
There are several important parts to the PPM system:
An encoder inserts the tones (via psychoacoustic masking) into a station's or network's airchain.
A monitor checks that the encoder is working properly.
The wearable Portable People Meter itself.
A base station for each PPM, where each person in the household places it overnight to recharge the battery and to transmit information to the hub.
A portable recharger for vacations and other trips away from the home base.
A hub (or collector) for each household that takes the collected information and has a modem to upload it overnight via telephone.
The system can also be used for other media, such as movies and music which are recorded with a digital encoding. Various venues and retail locations are also encoding their media in the Houston area.
[edit]Research reports

The PPM is beginning to provide new insights into how audiences respond to the various programming elements radio stations offer. Arbitron, as well as other firms that provide research and consulting services to radio stations, have begin publishing numerous studies based on analysis of PPM data.
The PPM is still a fairly new electronic measurement system that is in its beginning stages. The creator of the PPM, Arbitron, is being challenged by the Spanish Radio Association (SRA) as to its accuracy in measuring the Hispanic population. Of concern to the SRA is the way in which Hispanics are being recruited and represented.

Nothing like a good rationalization to support one's beliefs. :D

Drive time radio programming in a top five market is never "meant for a smaller audience". When each of the sports radio stations in a sports-mad top five market gets small % of adult men to listen during peak listening periods, something is not working.

uh...it's not a rationalization of anything, they beat their competition, if that means anything. Which it doesn't. It only means something to the advertisers. B&B will always have a niche audience. They're not shooting for Joe Moron, sports fan.

The Score sucks. The only reason I have it on in the summer is because of the White Sox, and the only reason I have it on in the mornings is because Zaidman does his Bears reports at 730am every day.

Mully is too "yelling guy", Terry is like Homer Simpson in the fact that he laughs at and is amused by the littlest things, Bernsie thinks you are dumber than a bag of rocks if you don't agree with him 100%, and "fill ins" are fill ins for a reason, but subs at the Score couldn't hold a candle to those at MVP.

I don't enjoy everything that every show does on ESPN, but the entertainment quotient at AM1000 is about 100 times what it is on 670.

Frank, I'm glad you feel that way. I now feel more secure in my love for M&H and B&B...
