Interesting take, guess categorizing music into genres like polka is racist because white and black people do not want to expose their kids to incredibly offensive songs like the "Too Fat Polka", or stuff that encourages substance abuse like "Beer Barrel Polka".

Much like "lol Pete Buttigieg said roads are racist, roads can't be racist," there's a kernel of truth here in the artificial dichotomy that record labels created between "rock and roll" and "rhythm and blues," but the person saying it is annoying, so no one's listening.

There’s a lot of truth in this. To the chagrin of thieves like Elvis and Pat Boone

Well, country and rap are two very different genres. "Americana" is just laundered country, though.

One, several were placed in spots to maintain segregation and two, I give little to no thought to or about anything Buttigieg says or does. That's your fixation

They're similar enough for us to have a country rap sub genre. I don't think you can like one and hate the other.

Most of what could be called country rap (and most country) is really just pop music.

Lizzo is a honeypot for complaints from the conservative demographic between young incels and racist Facebook uncles. Everyone else has the ability to ignore her. Except when you see her, because she’s fat.

You can't fat shame her, but you can fat shame a man.

I wouldn't know she existed if conservatives didn't complain or good liberals didn't defend her fat promotion.

Robert Moses designed the Long Island Parkways to have low overpasses so buses from the city couldn't clear them and bring black kids to the beach. Read a book.

I knew of Lizzo before she was famous because she used to do the "this is Minnesota Public Radio" read or whatever at the end of On Being. Then when she got famous, they started having someone else do it.

Is that NPR’s version of reading updates?

Robert Moses and his interest in making money on suburban development also happened to play a major role in the Dodgers walking away from the proposed new stadium in Brooklyn all the way out to Los Angeles.

The overpass thing is common knowledge in that somebody put it in a book and it became fact. It’s been debunked over & over.

Nowadays it’d probably get one of those special ‘fake but accurate’ fact-checks reserved for people like Buttigieg.

IIRC, he wanted them to play at the Flushing Toilets site. The Dodgers wanted to stay in Brooklyn. I read about twenty pages of a book about this guy once and I was like, "Man, what an asshole."

Edit: Wait, it was a book about the Brooklyn Dodgers.

That's actually one of my favorite debunkings. It's basically, "The guy was really racist and counted black people at beaches but the low bridge height was likely a cost cutting measure or he really wanted the bridge to flow with the natural beauty of the sprawling future suburbs of long island."

Quite a bit of the modern rap music is either autotuned or is just a bunch of mumbling around noticeable samples of old school R&B/Rock songs. Always seemed that rap is a bunch of young kids chasing women and country is the older dude that has the woman, kids, rent, and is trying to figure out how to keep all of it afloat.

Lizzo said that Hip Hop is dominant, but if you look at the types of music people actually pay to see you find the highest grossing tours are old school rock, pop, or country acts, much of the YouTube and tiktok crap the kids like has a very short shelf life, people with actual talent still rise up Irregardless of the genre.

Do find the whole Lizzo big girl thing interesting, see it happening on the local TV news here, guess the producer at Fox News better get a more robust catching couch.

Yeah, most modern rap sucks. You can still easily convert a rap song into a country track and vice versa. They share the same elementary rhyme patterns and similar story telling.

It's a battle now. Has been since The Hoax. The war of ideas is something the Left wants to tamp down with everything they have and on that that front, at least, the right is winning....so far.

Supreme Court fucked us pretty good on abortion. Be nice if Republicans could seize upon Biden's anti-unionism, but they won't.

She's got a strange gimmick but she's quite talented. Her whole persona is "I'm great and you suck unless you think I'm great".

You're leading the Grievance Fest. There are no coherent ideas. Just excessive bitching and a blood lust for those who aren't true believers. You lose people who are sympathetic to a cause or 2 by whining about everything.

The Supreme Court gave you what conservatives wanted for generations. Conservatives even took a victory lap and then went for a complete ban at the state level. Because MANY of you live in a bubble, you didn't understand how overreaching would anger a significant portion of the country.

I'm sure Biden would love to have a fight with Republicans about who has done more for unions. That irrational flailing helps Biden in 2024.
