I figured what the hell. At least we can keep the hoops thoughts in here. Looking forward to watching second half vs Virginia today. Use this thread to bitch about the bad Big Ten losses that will inevitably happen. Looks like a team worth watching

Illini fans love setting themselves up for disappointment.

I am here for it!

I didn't expect them to go undefeated. I suspect if they played Virginia ten times they would win six.

I never figured they would go undefeated. It was a good game, it seemed like the Illini had similar issues to teams in the past with throwing the ball away too much. Shannon seemed to just be pushing a little too hard and had 6 of the turnovers himself. I could see them going 24-7 regular season if things break their way.

Would normally be counted as a good win in most years but Syracuse looks pretty pathetic especially after a loss to Bryant College last week. I didn't get to watch a lot of the game, just a little bit after half. Hopefully the shooting improves from the outside. Shannon is a bit of a chucker out there. I like the confidence but would be good to get some more guys involved. I thought they were moving the ball pretty well, maybe even making an extra pass or two in certain instances. Only 7 turnovers I like. Anything in single digits I think you can live with on this team.

Outside of Shannon the scoring is all over the place. You have guys scoring 15 or 20 one game and then getting almost nothing the next. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing.

I think I would rather have 3 guys averaging double digits at some point, and maybe they will get there, but you are right in that it seems to be a couple different guys stepping up each game.

Just like in football, the road to winning the Big Ten goes through the winner of Illinois/Purdue.

Which has not been the story in the last two NCAAs....so this is definitely good.

Tough loss last night. Lack of execution the last 3 minutes. Should be a good learning experience and they go to play #2 Texas early next week in NYC so I’d like to think they’ll be hungry for that one.

Every bang-bang play has been called against the Illini. Maybe some calls will go their way in the second half. Good game so far.

Good win. They closed it out really well.....and stopped turning the ball over. Good win for the Big Ten, too.

Will this help Illini recruiting?

Nice win. They have a nice stretch here. Would be preferable to win the border battle with Mizzou. Big Ten regular season is no joke. I see Nebraska knocked off a good Creighton team.

Wow they looked really flat today. Disappointing loss at home. Shannon pretty much invisible. Maybe these guys aren’t quite what I thought. This should knock them out of the top 20. Might also be a challenge for them to reach 20 wins after what I saw this afternoon

They beat # 2 on a neutral court, then lose to Penn State at home. I think we'll see a lot more of this weirdness out of all teams now that they have these rent-a-players.

I'll never understand why the Illini have always had problems with Penn State.

College basketball is what it is. Illinois has Trap Game Syndrome just like everybody else. I would tell any talent that is on track for a one and done to just go to the G League. They aren't going to learn anything at this level. It's a sloppy game, the 3 pt line is too close, and the refereeing is terrible.

Underwood’s comments after the game tell me their are bigger issues going on outside of “trap game”. I wouldn’t think a coach starts yelling about there being no leadership on the team over one game.
