Kind of irritated by all this talk about canceling the game to respect "player safety." Forcing the game to go on wouldn't harm Hamlin's safety, it's not like the doctors and trainers would have left Hamlin on the ground once the game restarted. It was about understanding the gravity of the situation and acknowledging how the players couldn't reset emotionally and restart the game.

Also, it looks like there's a burgeoning he said/she said situation regarding the weird warmup call on the field after Hamlin was whisked away by an ambulance. Joe Buck/ESPN says the refs gave both teams notice that they'd restart in five minutes. The NFLPA says that's bullshit. Why would ESPN make that up? Not surprised Goodell's NFL is on the wrong end of another controversy.

It looked like Zac Taylor initiated the discussion with McDermott, and they decided playing would be stupid. The league and everyone else fell in line AFTER the coaches decision.

The NFL was flashing the lawer batsignal, that game wasn't getting restarted.

Now that it appears the young man is going to make it, may I address the elephant in the room? I know the NFL forced Vaccinations(experimental gene editing technologies) on players, it seems likely the cause no? 24 year old's hearts just don't "stop" on the field a play, in fact it has never happened before.

Yep! I may have to reevaluate my opinion of him. That's what real leadership looks like.

Pronger got hit with a puck, got up for a few seconds, and collapsed because his heart stopped.

The players were horribly shaken up. Continuing the game would be impossible. But, many times players have neck/spine injuries and are carted off the field near lifeless. Both possible paralysis and a massive heart attack are catastrophic. But it appears there's an unwritten rule games continue no matter how severe a spine injury is. Not finding fault with anyone.

Just curious…when Darryl Stingley was paralyzed, did they suspend/cancel the game?

I don't think they did. I worked at a school where he came in to speak years ago and it was sad to see him in the wheelchair and know why it had happened.

This is the story of a local kid (Fairly certain if I drop his dad's name Reader would know him from his old Kenwood days) who died during a GLeague game 4 years ago.

shit, the patriots probably got a delay of game penalty on the next play when they were slow army-carrying him off the field.

I could picture North busting into the ICU room and dropping a football on a sedated man.

Mission accomplished. Hug his mom, walk out and enjoy Victory Tuesday.

I'm not a Skip Bayless fan by any means, but the overreaction to his tweet is hilarious, yeah it wasn't worded the best, but people want him fired over it.

Don’t recognize the names there. Who is the kid’s dad?

I’d be shocked if they didn’t cancel that exhibition game.

It wasn’t even a hot take. I guess he could have led with the part where he called the actual game irrelevant in the context of the injury. Granted he probably assumed that was clear as he had two tweets immediately before that focused on Hamlin and the players.

People just want to be mad about things. It’s a legitimate comment from a guy paid to talk about sports to wonder how the sport is going to handle an unprecedented situation.

The longer it takes to hear things are getting better the more I assume they're not. I hope I'm wrong.

The NFL actually lucked out and and I don't think this game has to be made up, both teams are in the playoffs regardless, they will just go with their 16 game records, I don't see either of the teams bitching as it would be bad PR (see what happened to Skip)

Both teams have a path to the one seed and a bye.

Players in the league play with guys who beat women, have DUi’s that have killed people , ran dog fighting rings and killed and tortured animals but Skip Bayless’ words are a bridge too far for them.
