Complete message board guessing below......

Is there any offseason plan where the Bears love one of the QB's, and they trade Fields? If they are 6-10, and looking at the 8th pick, that might not work. But with the 2nd pick.... They're already flipping the majority of the roster, maybe the GM/coach want to get "their" guy.

Theoretically, they could trade Fields and get a few first round picks and trade their first round pick and get a couple more first round picks. I'm not sure if Poles has balls that big. It would be exciting if he doea.

I could see that happening.

Somebody’s going to give the Bears a few firsts for Fields?

People were willing to do that for unproven QBs from unremarkable football schools (cough (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky cough), why wouldn't they do that for a proven runner? There's always a guy out there who thinks he can unlock skills in QBs.

Why not? The league and media appear to love him. They just traded multiple picks for Watson and Wilson and gave them long-term deals. Fields doesn't have to be extended for 3 more seasons.

If they can get three firsts then yes, it’d be malpractice to not take that trade.

It's not outrageous for a team to trade 3 first round picks for Fields. A team moving up to the #2 spot would trade their first round pick and at least one more to move up.

I’m not going to google it now but has it happened for anybody aside from Watson, ever?

And while he has his obvious flaws, they didn’t involve throwing the football.

The 49ers gave up 3 first round picks for the right to draft Trey Lance. Micah Parsons was drafted with one of their picks. Can you imagine him on that team?

Edit: The Broncos gave up multiple first round picks and NFL players for Wilson. The Rams did the same for Stafford. There were additional picks in all of these deals outside of the first round picks.

20 receptions and 300 yards, when Poles see's something he wants, he goes out and gets it. Give him credit.

He’s good at blocking and they may be committing to an offense that doesn’t throw the ball.

I think I get the vision: acquire offensive linemen who can't block and pass-catchers who can't catch but block well.

Get off the bus running.

If they pick up a fullback you could convince me they’ll install Navy’s offense next year.

You could amputate Fields' right arm and the offense wouldn't miss a beat.

I don't want the Bears to over think this, take Jalen Carter and don't trade down. This guy was a tight end 18 months ago.. some good coaching and a few veteran moves and this guy can be all pro year two.

I’m team Carter as well but if there’s an insane draft pick haul from a QB needy team, they have to take it.

The fact that the bears would be willing to trade him at all would be red flag enough to keep any team being insane enough to trade 3 first rounders for him. If any team offered TWO first rounders for him you’d have to consider the shit out of that. 2 first rounders on top of the pick they have that they would use to get one of the QBs coming out this year plus all the picks and money they have to spend already? This team could get well REAL quick.

I don't think the Bears would publicly put him on the block. Teams will call about him just like they do for any other player.

Daboll may prefer him.

They have no excuse to not get better in a hurry. Poles is in a great spot and a horrible spot at the same time. All that cap space, great draft positioning…if this team sucks again next year he deserves the Emery treatment

This would have been a great position to be in in 2020. I'm not sure there are any surefire offensive players available. Do you look at the Northwestern Tackle?

I saw a mock with him at 2 and threw up.

I genuinely don’t think they need a ton of improvement on offense if they have a run first QB. Get a few vet OL guys in FA and maybe a late round RB. I’m Of the view their skill guys are average at worst. Claypool, Mooney, Kmet, St. Brown - that’s fine. Not great but fine.

Turn over 6 starters on D and it’s a whole different story. Teams aren’t putting up 40 with ease and the run-heavy offense doesn’t have to try to throw the ball once the team falls behind by 3 scores.

I'd toss big money at Orlando Brown and Mike Mcglinchey.
That fixes the line and pound DL, LB ,WR , in the draft.

Always been a draft the best talent guy rather than draft for need. I wouldn't go into the draft trying to build around Fields' strengths and weaknesses. I think you do that for a confirmed centerpiece like Burrow or Allen, not a guy like Fields.

I will continue with my approach that you sign Daron Payne on Day 1 of free agency and you draft one of Anderson, Carter or Murphy. The preference is Anderson. They should still have money to also sign Ngakoue. He concerns me though because he has elite sack numbers for a DT and will be on his 5th team by age 28.

The best case scenario is QB rising in the draft. Trade out of 2 but only for a couple of spots and still get Anderson.

Payne will get tagged. They have the cap space and aren't paying big bucks at quarterback They will cut Wentz and save 26 million against the cap

I'll have to take a look again but my previous research showed insiders did not think he would get tagged. They have a lot of talent on the DL to cover losing him. Cut Wentz and they will just have to pay another veteran QB. Starting Heineke is waving the white flag.
