I don't want to say this would be a bad hire, but I would prefer someone who had NFL experience.

He does. He got the Vikings stadium done. That's why they would hire him.

His leadership was abysmal during the first year of COVID. Moving Big Ten football to the spring without talking to anyone else but the Pac 12 about doing the same was almost a colossal failure until the OSU AD basically overruled him and said "We are playing in the fall. You make it happen or we will."

He did a great job with the tv deal and expansion though.

Rams too. I think I'd be ok with this but we will see what Good Dolphin has to say.

Will he have a say in on field decisions?

He unsuccessfully tried to kill college football a couple years ago, so sure, why not?

Did he actually have anything to do with the Vikings’ stadium deal? Or is that like how anybody associated with the Chiefs was individually responsible for drafting Patrick Mahomes?

He was the COO which was basically everything that wasn't on the field for the Vikings. I assume though the Vikings stadium did have a field and he was involved in that.

Kevin Warren a finalist? Shows the Bears have no clue.

I’d imagine the Wolf family had something to do with it.

If he was responsible for the field then I choose to blame him for the Metrodome’s roof collapsing on his watch. I hope he does a better job in Arlington Heights.

The bears and nfl are only interested in the last line.

Kevin Warren hired. It probably doesn't change much on the field besides the new stadium.

For the new stadium it is.

I don't think people even knew if he was a good Big Ten commissioner. He completely bungled the response to COVID in the worst possible way but probably did the best tv deal in college sports history in the past year after taking the only two Pac 12/10/8/6 teams that really matter.

yeah this move is all about the stadium. And from that standpoint it makes sense.

The rest of the job who the hell knows.

We may wish for the days of Sweaty T again

I believe Kevin Warren is/was a Branch Covidian that wanted football cancelled, and our own Justin Fields was leading the rebellion against him to play football. Should be interesting...

You're not being fair, as his response to COVID in the Summer of 2020 was the same as yours at the time, you basically wanted the world to shut back down then, if I recall.

He’s also ‘responsible’ for building a stadium notorious for murdering birds.

We have a GM who drafted Patrick Mahomes and a President who built a stadium. What more could you want?

Also his kid was actively playing football in the SEC when he tried to cancel football.

You have a terrible memory. I wanted everything opened back up by May 2020. The football season being referred to started in August/September 2020.

Though, his rationale was valid. There was a spike in myocarditis among college athletes in 2020 presumably because of COVID and an IU player was hospitalized for it.

His problem was that he called up the Pac 12 and said "If we move it to spring to learn more will you?" and they said they would and then they did it thinking the other three conferences would follow them. They didn't and he had to walk it back and play a shortened season.

Now that's funny! (not the kid in the hospital) but one kid hospitalized back then and you all wanted to blame COVID, but now you have young athletes dropping like files and you fight tooth and nail anyone trying to blame the vaccine

It was a study done among athletes that found a spike in myocarditis. I was simply pointing out that a current Big Ten football player being hospitalized increased the urgency to learn more.

As part of my "COVID is over" policy I'm not going to go any further on your other parts of it and I'll stick to the poor performance in dealing with the postponement of the Big Ten season without getting the other 3 major conferences on board.

It wasn’t a study done among athletes.
