You think this loss is on Cousins ?

Primarily? No. The decision to throw that pass? Throwing the ball behind the receiver on 3rd down? Absolutely.

Who was open on this play ? I mean you can make the golf analogy about missing 100% of the putts you leave short but literally no one was open. The 3rd down play couldve been a better throw but thats a ball I heard all year from the Fields cult blamed on the receiver for not catching it rather than the throw, and wouldve heard again had that been our Wunderkind. I guess you have to chuck it to someone who is covered and hope but he's getting sacked if he holds it another second.

Your take is fair. It looked like something over the middle was coming open, but I can't be sure. I think you give Jefferson a shot because he's your best player.

There should never be a checkdown throw on a 4th and the season. Its a terrible play call from jump. Every route has to go past the sticks.

You can live with a season ending incompletion on a jump ball to Jefferson.

You go seppuku after a 3yd check down on 4th & 8.

That's a lot of mental gymnastics you're going through, Rouge, to excuse Cousins. You do the exact opposite for Fields. The truth is it was a astoundingly dumb decision to go to Hockensen. You throw up a 50/50 ball to whoever is beyond the sticks on fourth and the season. You don't play it "safe" by boosting your completion % on an easy throw to Hockensen. What a dumbass play by Cousins.

Sure sounds like O'Connell is stunned that Cousins would throw short on 4th:

Quote:
The intent as a playcaller is you’re not going to call a primary concept where somebody is short of the sticks to gain, especially on fourth down,” O’Connell said. “If it’s third down and you can catch, convert and make it a fourth and two or three, that’s OK. But yeah, looking back on it, I maybe could have just been a little bit more, ‘Hey, this is kind of where you want the ball to go.’ But I want Kirk to be able to play. I want him to be free out there to make good decisions. He did all night long. Moved our team. Stood in there, getting the ball out of his hand in rhythm. It just so happens that that down — we just didn’t get enough on the play regardless
.

Subtext: I had no idea this dumbass would throw short. I overestimated his intelligence.

It sounds like the coach is trying to cover his ass for a TERRIBLE call.

He clearly implies cousins was to go more vertical on that play. We're talking about a 34 year old veteran QB. Everyone knows what to do on that play, except cousins apparently nn

The defense did play terrible but with the game on the line cousins looked stupid throwing that ball.

Did anyone see the thing about how since 1997 the Giants have either been out on their first playoff game or made the Super Bowl? That’s crazy.

He called a play where every route that went beyond the sticks was 20 yards down the field. He fucked up too.

Has anybody said a vaccinated QB makes a better decision yet? Because that's the most important team to be on.

We were wrong. He is no longer the best. Saturday he was barely tolerable.

I think Al would have been fine if he'd been working #1 games all season, but he was doing the dregs all year, checked out, then came back to NBC to work a game with the dishwater-dull Tony Dungy and sucked. I'm not surprised.

I'm of the belief that Mike Tirico is fundamentally the best play-by-play man going, but he doesn't have the big-game feel that Al Michaels has. He sounds like ESPN. Al Michaels sounds important, but you can only sound so important when the Colts and Broncos are shitting up the joint. The realignment this year served no one well.

Pairing Al with that fucking fossil Tony Dungy didn't help either.

He threw for 5000 yards and 25 touchdowns without a running game, an injured offensive line, and a head coach who is still trying to figure out where he knows the person from that he saw in May.

8-9 in the worst division in football, he's been missing wide open All Pro receivers all year.. they cn run the ball if they tried, they use their backs catching as a run game. 5k yards meaningless

He upgraded his supermodel to a younger model with all the bells and whistles. He won't have to share his $350M deal when he retires. Brady is on an entirely different plane than us mortals.
