They have to decide on Love’s 5th year option during the off-season. Would cost $19.5 million for the year.

In the best possible scenario for the Packers, they could trade Rodgers and OnLy have to cough up
$15,833,570 + another 24,480,000 in 2024.
It's not happening. Rodgers is not playing anywhere but Green Bay.
Quote:
What Happens if the Packers Trade Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers does not have a no trade clause in his contract so he could be traded to a team as well. The timing of the option should give the Packers all the way until the end of training camp to move him. The cap charge here would depend on when he was traded. If Rodgers were to be traded prior to June 1st the Packers would take on a $40,313,750 cap hit in 2023. If he was traded after June 1st it would be a $15,833,570 cap hit in 2023 with $24,480,000 due in 2024. This assumes that the Packers did not exercise the option before the trade. If the option is exercised then the trade number spikes to nearly $100 million. There should be no need to exercise the option until the last possible day.

For the team acquiring Rodgers they would be on the hook for the salary for the year. The cap charge would be $59,515,000 if they do not exercise his option and $15.79 million if they were to exercise the option. Rodgers has an injury guarantee of $49.25 million for 2024 but that does not become fully guaranteed until 5 days after the 2023 Super Bowl. If Rodgers was cut after 2023 it would cost the team $43.725 million on the 2024 cap. If he retired they could split that as $14.575 million in 2024 and $29.15 million in 2025 using a similar June 2nd date as mentioned above in the retirement option.

Realistically there are only about 4 spots for Rodgers. Needs to be a playoff capable team in need of a QB.

Tampa
Tennessee
Indianapolis
Miami

Coundn't have gone much worse for the Pack with Love. Didn't make the playoffs and they didn't get to see him start a bunch of games to see what they have.

I watched the game during our flight back from Florida. It’s very difficult to keep from screaming when there are so many stupid decisions/drops/mistakes. The 1st half had the same vibe as previous disappointing games where they had a lead but couldn’t pull away…it seemed like a loss was definitely in the cards. I actually felt ok after the loss because it was deserved and they had no chance to advance anyway. The off-season should be interesting.

Karen Rodgers hasn't had a 300 yard passing game in his last 21 games, threw more interceptions last season than he has since his first year as a starter, bent the Packers over for another record contract, and he still finds a way to go into the offseason with his diva bullshit.

As a player pushing drug usage, he may be convincing MANY to avoid drugs.

Gronk hammers Karen for being more interested in MVP trophies than Super Bowls.

Yep, personnel moves and strategy including the drafts of the past 4-5 years directly led to the regression we're witnessing. Solid indeed. Go Pack!

What excites you about the two guys from Georgia who sat on the bench, were kicked out of games, or made copious amounts of tackles 10 yards or more downfield?

This from the guy that liked the Bears 2022 offseason moves and picked them to go 10-7.

GREEN BAY, WI—Following a disappointing season in which his team finished with a losing record and failed to make the postseason, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers told reporters Thursday that he would decide his future career plans by consulting with a coven of his trusted witches. “I need to take some time and consider what’s best for me, whether that’s returning to the Packers, looking for a trade, or even retirement, and I can’t make that decision without input from the tight circle of omnipotent sorceresses who know me best,” Rodgers said of the group of 8,000-year-old crones with whom he will spend several weeks in an undisclosed, uninhabited marsh as they read the entrails of sacrificed animals to divine his fate. “We’ll be gathering during the first blood moon, which is the ideal time for them to peer into the crystals and see into the different futures I would experience if I requested a trade to the Raiders, Jets, or Colts, or tried to move into the broadcast booth. I don’t want to make this decision lightly, so I really want to take my time with Emelda and Hexe, going through all the incantations that will help me settle on a course of action. I’m just really glad I have my coven of witches to help me decide. Not only have they been with me since the beginning of my career, but they also created me.” At press time, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst reportedly awoke tied up in a mysterious chamber as a croaking old female voice asked him whether he was prepared to convince Rodgers to return for another season as the team’s quarterback by sacrificing backup Jordan Love.

This is funny and all but let's not kid ourselves. The Packers are on the map because of only one reason: Rodgers. Not the other way around. Lotta folks getting undeserved love off of his greatness.

Gute’s draft produced 3 immediate (long-term) starters and possibly another 2 next year. That’s pretty good on a team that was already considered a playoff caliber team. The fact that they played at times like rookies doesn’t change anything. Overall I was pretty happy with what I saw. Maybe that’s unbridled optimism though.

Pretty low bar to clear for you. Gute drove the franchise into the ground, who cares about two players who might be good. He should be fired.

I believe that Rodgers is traded this off-season, listening again to Gute's end of the year convo and Rodgers last Tuesday, seems it is headed that way.

Vegan, you blame Gute and say he has sucked. Explain how Rodgers had back to back MVP REGULAR seasons, but failed in the playoffs. Clearly over a 17 game schedule he had plenty of talent. But maybe he has developed an issue in the playoffs. I am good with moving on, and I openly admit he may go somewhere and be great, and that is cool. Just seems like it is time. End of thoughts ...
