Just realizing this:

In Burrow's first complete season, which was his sophmore campaign, he went to the SB.
In this second complete season, he lost a 50/50 AFC championship game.

Mahomes is legit, no doubt, but this Burrow dude is no joke. If they get consistent play from their line...they could easily go back to the SB. The injuries on the line killed them yesterday. Is Burrow etched in stone as the NFL's no 2 QB, with a possibility to ascend to no 1, for the next 10 years?

I think he is. Watching Mahomes and Burrow is going to be fun.

Edit: I the Mixon is going to get cut and CEH will be back with Burrow on a prove it deal.

I'd expect the 2nd best QB in football to at least march the team down into field goal range on the last drive.

The best quarterback failed to do it.

tbf, he would have led his team to victory, had Brock Purdy not torn his arm to shreds.

Mixon's deal not at all guaranteed for 2023 and 2024?

Burrow and Higgins on the same timeline in terms of their rookie deals? Or do they not have the 5th year option on Higgins cuz he was a 2nd round pick. Another season with Burrow/Higgins/Chase on rookie deals at least. Chase being a 1st round pick + off-set by a year from Burrow gives the Bengals a bit more runway--they won't have to sort out both Burrow and Chase the same off-season. But it's hard to see the notoriously cheap Bungles keeping this band together beyond the 2023 season. Higgins and Mixon probably gone after next season (maybe sooner for Mixon, with the savings they can pick up cutting him). Unless they're willing to take Bengals friendly deals.

Mike Brown's daughter and son-in-law supposedly calling the shots in the front-office now. But they still have to run everything through tight-fisted Mike Brown.

Bears need to get in on that Tee Higgins action

I'm a huge Chase fan but Higgins was the best WR on the field yesterday

This is a weird takeaway from a weekend where Mahomes just beat Burrow on 1 foot and without his top 3 WRs.

Mahomes is in a tier of his own, and yesterday was further evidence. There's no reasonable argument to the contrary. Argue over who's 2nd best in the league I guess, because that one is actually debatable.

You say that as if Mahomes scored a decisive victory. It was the opposite of decisive - it could have gone either way. That's not to diss Mahomes. Can't take anything away from him. Burrow also had a disadvantage: missing three linemen. That's no joke.

The playoffs as a whole showed that mahomes and burrow are at the top of the tiers and there is no one else close to them. Mahomes is still a top that list, but Burrow is not far behind.

Burrow is still pretty far behind, by at least two MVPs, two All Pro teams, two conference titles, and one (maybe soon to be two) rings. And Burrow was 100% healthy yesterday and had a much, much better surrounding cast than Pat did, and still couldn't get it done. It's only going to get tougher from here with Burrow's rookie contract running out, Mahomes is already playing on his 2nd contract, one that forced them to trade his best playmaker. It didn't matter, Pat won MVP anyway and just beat Joe with a high ankle sprain and depleted surrounding cast.

You guys are in too big a hurry to crown the next thing. Let Joe earn it. If he's as good as Mahomes like you guys think, he will. So far he hasn't come close.

I agree Chase, Higgins and Boyd are better than Hardman, MVS, Kelce, etc but you are still unfairly not acknowledging the o-line injuries. Burrow/Cincy lost an entire quarter to start the game simply because the line couldn't protect burrow. He got sacked and smartly threw several balls into the dirt to avoid more sacks, something Fields should take notes on. That evened the playing field a bit so let's not just outright assume Cincy was at 100 percent full strength while only KC was hampered by injuries.

Missing 3 WRs and missing 3 OL cancel eachother out. That leaves Mahomes on 1 foot and Joe on both feet. It also doesn't account for the Bengals having $50 million more outside the QB position to spend, a luxury they lose after next year.

Any way you slice it, Joe had a much better team around him than Pat did yesterday. Didn't matter, did it?

That seems highly unlikely, but I do agree Philly will win, which is why Nas and I have a $100 wager on it and I have Philly.

If they cancel each other out then it means it's even, not that Burrow had an advantage . Having Chase and Higgins doesn't mean anything if your line doesn't give you time to throw to them. Burrow also beat Mahomes last year in KC as a sophomore when it was Mahomes who had better pass catchers, so again the gap isn't as wide as you're making it out to be.

The first 3 match-ups didn't happen to FF. Even the ones that featured Hill and an even worse offensive line for Burrow. Let's not forget that Mahomes has Andy Reid. I'm still not sure Zac Taylor doesn't eat crayons during team meetings.

Mahomes sits atop the mountain, but Burrow is close. Refereegate hasn't changed that. Burrow easily win at home, without referee interference, and if the game was played on a neutral field.

Did Cincy not go into KC with a sophomore QB and rookie wr1 and beat a superior chiefs team last year led by superstar Mahomes and all world players like Kelce and Hill?

Don't forget about the great offensive line and HoF offensive guru as a head coach.

Yep. In fact losing to Cincy last year is probably the only serious blemish Mahomes has on his stellar resume. They should have defeated Cincy last year.

Yeah last year seems to get lost in this deal.

Burrow took his team to KC and beat a team that had more talent on it than his team did.

So they are 1-1 in championship games.

Mahomes had a better season this year. But Burrow played pretty well too.

Mahomes is clearly 1 right now. But to say Burrow is a close 2nd is pretty easy call.

Joe Burrow has played in 7 playoff games and never thrown a TD in the 4th quarter. Carried by the defense these runs. He's definitely hindered by o-line play but let's pump the brakes.

Or it's Burrow only has 49 career starts and 7 of those have been in playoff games. That's 7 playoff starts in 2.8 seasons and he's probably two years away from starting his peak. He'll be fine.

Boxscore watching doesn't work. There's no one who believes that the Bengals scored a 4th quarter touchdown in spite of Burrow yesterday.

Their 4th quarter touchdown was on that short field after the Mahomes fumble and needed that 4th and 6 to Chase in double coverage for 35 yards.

He's been great so far in his career. He's just number 2 right now and there is a decent sized gap until he gets some hardware.
