it's truly weird. ai is going to change society more than anything ever has. the economy is going to be based on things only humans can do and ai cant. for awhile it will be things humans do better, but eventually whatever ai can't do will be the definition of 'life'. which will be interesting because humans will then have the time and capacity to focus on what make them unique. insane stuff is coming...

its the latest example of the exponentially exploding capability of ai. it's programmed by itself. machine learning. same way tesla cars are learning to drive themselves. 10 years ago none of this seemed like it would happen in our lifetimes. now it seems imminent to achieve 'sentience', or at least a version that is indistinguishable from real consciousness.

get ready kids. the world is going to be unrecognizable soon. we are only seeing tiny hints of whats to come. this is a bigger change than what the transistor did to the world.

Buzzfeed laid off a bunch of people in December and a couple days ago announced they were going to be using AI to create content. They say the two actions weren't related lol.

Its pretty scary. I saw art a couple years ago that looked terrible and now its already looking as good as what a graphic artist could do. Those people are screwed. The content creators that use things like crowdfunding think its great because they'll have access to cheap but high quality artwork.

Over/under on Deadspin doing the same as buzzfeed? Their articles now are basically AI written against what 90% of people think.

I think Deadspin is bad opinion pieces so they might be safe for now at least from AI. I think the way this works is the AI takes information from different sources and creates articles. These garbage sites want to push out as much crap as they can so they can generate traffic.

Yea it's going to be really weird. The economy has always been about people doing things that a machine can't. We now know it's possible for machines to do basically everything in our current economy. So whats left? We are not machines, there will always be SOMETHING we do that they can't... It's just weird to guess what those things are.

So now we have reporters spending all day trying to get ai to say something outrageous for the clicks

So? That's inevitable. What's amazing is the creators didn't spend thousands of hours blocking every dangerous question, as they currently do with keyword based searches. They gave the ai sets of parameters and it's operating within that.

Also think about what chat gpt's real capability is like. What we see is public. It's probably equivalent to a fucking insect compared to the unfiltered version.
