If NWI offered the Bears free land and tax breaks, they would jump over there faster than CallerBob jumped to make to a vaccine appointment.

The rich have been doing it to the poor since the beginning of time. The only difference between the Pyramids and the Empire State Building is the Egyptians didn't allow unions. I know what this guy is all about, greed. He don't give a damn about The Chicago Bears or the unions. He's in and out for the buck and he don't take prisoners.

This is why CRT needs to be taught.

I would never forgive the Bears if they took away my right as a Chicagoan to make fun of Indiana.

I would never forgive them for taking away reason #1 to make fun of New York.

Couldn't have the city offer the same deal as Arlington Heights just like 10 blocks west of Soldier Field? By the rail yards?

300+ acres with a metra station adjacent to a highway?

The city made a mistake with the former Michael Reese hospital site. It would have been perfect. Instead, they seemingly gave it to some company to make condos with some of it being affordable.

48 acres is enough to build a high quality domed stadium.

I hope the Bears consult with Mayor/Secretary Buttigieg to make sure those 48,000 jobs are mostly non-white

They just sent an email to season ticket holders about the closing. Interesting line from their email

Anything in there about having to purchase new PSLs?

You'll absolutely have to buy PSLs again. They won't transfer from Soldier Field. And you know what else they're gonna do to you. Follow the Cowboys lead and what they started. They're gonna make you renew the PSLs every 25 years.

And yes, that letter that the Bears wrote just reconfirmed what I already knew. There is no way the McCaskeys get this built. They don't have the money and they won't be able to get it. If they do it right, this stadium will cost at least 3 billion dollars. Probably closer to 4 billion. If they are gonna do it, it should be done right. Don't go on the cheap.

I would love it if Elon Musk was a Bear's fan and take over ownership of the Bears. It will never happen because of Chicago's love of union labor priority I guess?

An NFL field is gonna be the first time there's ever been 50 black guys in Arlington Heights.

From today's Trib:

"Due to refinancing and years of primarily paying interest instead of principal, the debt owed for Soldier Field has ballooned from the original $399 million to $631 million, according to the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority"

Exhibit A for why the Bears shouldn't get a fucking penny to build another stadium.

That seems more a city problem than a Bears problem.

Right. The Bears don't own the stadium. They lease it.

Now you know what Brandon Johnson wants a suburbs tax. They have to pay pensions, teachers, and debt somehow.

There’s a lesson in the Soldier Field reno story about relying on hotel taxes to fund excessive spending.

There is a lot out there about how the city chose to go deep in debt for Soldier Field.
