Possibly. I see a trade as being the most likely scenario though. He might tell the Packers which team he’ll go to or threaten to retire. Jets still make the most sense.

He doesn't have any leverage. He would not only leave money on the table by retiring, he would have to return signing bonus money to the Packers.

His contract was purposely set up where a) He got max / ridiculous money guaranteed b) The Packers in return were protected from him playing elsewhere.

Small chance he retires but I highly doubt that. There is zero chance he's playing anywhere besides Green Bay.

I'd say it's closer to 50/50. If Rodgers wants to be traded and there is a willing partner then he'll be gone. I think that's actually what Gute is hoping will happen.
