Poles got a second rounder for a guy that wasn't going to stay here because the Bears weren't going to pay him.

Poles' options for Roquan Smith were;
-Let him walk and get nothing
-Franchise him and pay him ~$20mil for the 2023 season
-Trade him

You can bash Poles for a number of things. Saying he got taken to the woodshed in the Roquan deal is not only false, its stupid.

Bradley Chubb and Roquan Smith were both traded at the deadline.

- Both top 10 picks in the 2018 draft
- Both on expiring contracts
- Chubb was a two time pro bowler, Roquan 1 probowl, 2 time 2nd team all pro
- Chubb netted a late first round pick, Roquan a late 2nd round pick.

Roquan certainly was more valuable to the Ravens than Chubb was to the Dolphins, yet Chubb returned alot more. I do agree you had to get something for Roquan, but is it really "as good as he could have done" ? It seems he should have got more.

Chubb plays a more valued position than Roquan.

That's a great story, but you aren't painting the entire picture, Bob. You're leaving out a crucial detail to make your bullshit try and smell more like roses. The Dolphins had two first round picks, and traded the 49ers pick that they had acquired for Chubb.



Had the Dolphins only had one first round pick, they likely wouldn't have moved it for Chubb.

The worst thing Poles could have done was pay Roquan or lose him to FA and get nothing. The same mistakes the Bulls and Cubs made last year. Lets see how Claypool plays next year before we call that a L.

Roquan didn't sniff a pro bowl until last season. We see Will Anderson as being a Parsons/Chubb type of pass rusher. We don't see him as a Roquan. Chubb is a pass rusher, and Roquan isn't. Chubb has been a great player. Roquan has been a good player.

Chubb was a bum for the Dolphins while Roquan carried the Lamar-Less Ravens into the playoffs.

Roquan had more tackles and sacks with the Bears. He'll probably be 300 lbs before the ink dries. Not even you would have given up a #1 for Roquan.

He's a much better in a 3-4 than a 4-3. And he was great for the Ravens, that's why they gave him that paper.

I think that Smith is more than just a "good player". I admire the guy for laying it all on the line and betting on himself and winning a big contract. On a different and better team, he'd have made the pro bowl the last three years
