Poles did a great job positioning the Bears for future success. I just don't know if he can pick and sign the right players. I don't hate what he did in the draft, but I don't love it either. We need better than okay to good this offseason. We need good and great.

One of the most remarkable set of circumstances in NFL history, Lovie should be inducted into the Bears Hall of Fame for his coaching career, but him handing the franchise the #1 pick makes it a slam dunk.

Poles will likely turn the #1 overall pick into several additional first and second round picks, securing picks in the top 10 of next years draft is key as the QB class is better and there are some top level skill guys, theoretically you could be in the exact same spot next year, holding a top pick with teams desperate for a QB.

33rd pick, isn't it? Poles was in a box though, because the Packers were going to get him with their 2nd rounder. It's up to Claypool to determine whether it was expensive or VERY expensive.

I just think objectively, in the scheme of NFL drafts, the #33 pick, is pretty damn valuable.

Consider Claypool was #49. I don't know if Poles overpaid, just doing some math.

Claypool was the 49th pick, generally has been a disappointment, and was traded for the #33 pick with 1.5 years left on his contract. That's Ryan Poles getting raped.

Claypool himself still has a chance to be quite valuable. Right now it looks like a poor move, but there is still time for the guy to emerge as a WR. I'll invoke captain obvious here and say that time will tell.

I've seen enough blown 2nd round picks where I'm not bothered by this trade. I liked what I saw when he was on the field. He just needs a quarterback to throw him the ball.
