He wouldn't be the guy whose door I was at at 12:01 of the first day but maybe if the draft doesn't break their way and the terms are reasonable, you add him.

He's going to get an average of around $20M. Not many teams outside of the Bears can offer him that.

I have no desire to give $20M to Jones. I don't care how old he is. He isn't an elite DT.

They’re both good players. Who’s better? I’d argue that Hargrave is surrounded by more talent and is on a better more high profile team so he’ll get more attention. But if you watch Jones you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve read 20 mill might be too high for either guy, but we’ll see what happens there.

That Broncos defense is elite. They gave Denver every opportunity to win games last year. With a slightly below average quarterback, they would have been a playoff team.

I have my eye on, in the top of the second, a couple of 3T who get a lot of pressure, both with impossible names (Tuli from USC and Ade from NU).

I'm looking for pass rushers in all four dl spots

Watched a bit of both guys and Hargrave is the far superior player, Jones gets washed out in the run game frequently, Hargrave is one of the more violent and powerful hand fighters you will see, stops the o lineman in his tracks at initial contact.

We will see where they choose to spend the cap paper, but they need bullies on the D line, and not too many rooks come in as bullies on the D line.

Some guys with potentially high ceilings in the d line group this draft, but would like to get a proven vet to lead the d line room.

If they are rolling with Fields, now is the time to go stir crazy in free agency and try and build as best of team around him while he is still on his cheap rookie deal.

Jones is lighter, but more athletic with that 1st step (great for shooting the gap and pass rushing).. he’s not bad against the run at all so I’m not sure what tape you’re seeing on that but I do know coming out of Ohio State one of the criticisms of him was he played with his pad level too high at times so there might be some of that left in his current game, either way he’s a very good player.

He’s the perfect prototype for a 3 tech imo.

Like I said, this argument comes down to what you’re willing to roll the dice on more for a rebuild -a guy entering his prime, or a guy who might not have much of it left. Even if one guy is better than the other I don’t think it’s by as much as you and Nas seem to think. Jones is no slouch.

Don’t know that I love it. Don’t necessarily hate it but seems like they could’ve been more patient.

That's a great deal. They got a #1 WR and go into free agency understanding where they stand.

The Panthers will duck next year too

I don’t love dropping to 9 in a weak draft. Particularly when the top QBs haven’t even held pro days yet.

Pro day made Zack Wilson.

Carolina will be terrible with a rookie QB and now no DJ Moore. That could be a high pick next year

Exactly, they got a solid receiver, and that number one has the potential to be high next year. Five players for moving down eight slots.

They also play in the NFC South, which is the AL Central of the NFL.

Planting my flag on “don’t like it,” if only because I think it was premature.

It’s not a terrible haul but the early reaction is unanimous that it’s a good trade for Poles, which makes me very itchy. I hate consensus.

Maybe they take a second look at Jalen Carter at 9.

He got a #1 WR and what will likely be a top 5 pick next year. It's a great trade. I thought the 2025 pick was a #1 too. I'm kinda disappointed in that.

One extra first (which I doubt will be top 5), a late second, a future second and a guy who’s a year away from holding out.

You expect the Panthers to be good with a rookie quarterback and without their #1 WR?

They had Sam Darnold, an XFL player and Baker this year. A rookie is an upgrade.

Their division is trash. Could be a 6-7 win team.

This is my take.

Honestly seemed light but still not terrible.

The Colts were the only team that worried me. I felt like their 2024 pick could be around 20.

So, this moves Claypool back to the slot, which he is probably perfectly suited to but that he hated in Pittsburgh.

I really don’t like how early they made this trade. Seems like Poles got nervous.

So your WR group is now Moore, Claypool, and Mooney. That is a pretty solid group. I would like to see them come out of this draft with another TE

Solid WRs won't matter if Fields still doesn't throw at an NFL level. Hope he does though. Otherwise Moore will catch no more than 40 passes for the year.

No doubt. But Poles very well maybe putting talent around Fields to see how it goes this year and now he knows he had 2 first rounders next year that he can possibly get a QB if needed then.
