Philly probably took the biggest losses in free agency thus far, the defense is decimated. We know Hurts is good if he's backed by a really good and sometimes great defense. In 2023 we'll learn if he's good enough to elevate the entire team into contention when one part of that team - the defense - is likely going to be average or below average.

They were built for last season and they did get to the super bowl

how the heck they let Chauncey Gardner go to the Lions? And he only signed a 1 year deal with Detroit.

NFC weak, like Ukraine:

The offense hasn't dramatically changed. He should be fine. The defense wasn't as good as their numbers said they were.

It would be different if they lost a lot of offensive talent.

The same way it doesn't matter if KC or Cincy's defense sucks or is merely average. Peyton Manning went to the playoffs for years with bad or average defenses. Is Hurts in that class. We'll find out next year.

Limit their opportunities to suck by either scoring a lot of points or keeping them off the field.

He still has the best offensive line and best combination of WR/TE's in football. Dumb thread.

This is nonsense. No one blamed Mahomes when he played great, and they lost. No one blamed Hurts for the Super Bowl loss.

Hurts has no reason not to continue playing at an MVP level.

Jordan Davis is going to fill the void left by Javon Hargrave. ( Actually, Philly would be a perfect landing spot for Jalen Carter ), so who really did they lose on defense besides Gardner-Johnson? T.J Edwards? Only Poles thought that guy was significant behind that monster dline

Davis isn't similar to Hargrave in the slightest, even though he is also very good

They will still score a lot of points and win a lot of games, SB contender.

The only threat to Philly is the SuperBowl Loser Hangover, which based on history, has some merit.

And they got two first rounders that they can spend on D.

This isn't really a question still. Did you watch the Super Bowl?

I was blown away by what he did in that game, honestly. I'm rooting for him to sustain that type of performance over an entire season without the benefit of a top 5-7 defense next year.

Philly didn't have a good defense. They just played against some shitty teams.

Their schedule was easy yes so that can explain the statistically impressive defense. The D sucked in the SB but overall I'm not sure if that was true for the whole year.

For example, they played six playoff teams in the regular season and went 5-1. The average point surrendered during those games was 20.5, with the outlier being 40 scored by the Cowboys in the Eages' only loss. Even with the 40 dropped by the Cowboys, an average of 20.5 would rank them 12th overall if they maintained that over the season. Against non-playoff teams they surrendered around a point or so less than what they surrendered against playoff teams (they ranked 7th overall over all games (19.8 per game)). So even against marginally better teams the Eagles' defensive performance didn't drop off much in the aggregate. This suggests they were a consistently better than average/good defense.

I believe we had this debate before the 49ers game. Look a little deeper. When did they play those teams? In the case of the Cowboys, which quarterback did they play against?
