Agreed, Frank.
This will be a fun game of chicken. The Packers have ZERO leverage right now.

The Packers have ALL of the leverage right now. The Jets dont have a QB they like. The Packers have 2 they like.

Another big reason why GB has all the leverage here. They aren't in a hurry to get this done, nor should they be. NY is.

Can't be in too much of a hurry because, to my knowledge, the Jets haven't traded for Rodgers yet. If they have, please let me know as I and the rest of the world missed it.

Packers have no leverage.

I caught zero logic in all of that. And that last part? Pure gibberish.

It's all good, Frank. FF and HH confirmed they're not posting pro-Gute propaganda about leverage. See, the Pack has all the leverage because Rodgers and Love can just report to work once the season starts. Hawg and FF are down with this. Either Rodgers will assume the QB1 role and Love will merrily resume his spot on the bench. We all know Love is committed to a fourth year of clipboard duties, that's always been why Gute invested two picks in Love instead of one pick in Higgins. Or Love will take over and Rodgers will gracefully step into a hybrid mentor/backup role. We all know Rodgers is committed to the mentorship role.

So you see? Nothing to worry about. They've got it all figured out in Pack Land.

Do you see Mark Murphy publicly saying the Packers are anxious? No you do not. The Jets owner is publicly saying the Jets are in a hurry to get the deal done. GB is not.

There's nothing left to debate here.

Exactly. They can both report to work, like you said, and both will be happy with the outcome of the QB1 competition. Nothing to worry about.

It amuses me that you think you are more informed than the Jets owner about which side has more urgency to get a deal done. Classic CFMB.

Ok. So if the Packers have all the leverage, what do you suspect is the minimum they'll get for dumping Rodgers?

Worst case for the Jets: explaining to a fan base why they can't get Rodgers
Worst case for the Pack: spending the next 5 months embroiled in an extremely public feud with an unpredictable, volatile QB while demoralizing the rest of the roster and ruining your next QB's fragile psyche.

Leverage: Jets

I think you are confused. There is no scenario where the Jets dont get Rodgers this offseason, unless you think their GM is going to ignore their owner's wishes, which I don't think really ever happens.

So what happens if the Jets get tired of waiting and tell GB to make their final request and it can't include a first round pick?

Do the Packers just keep Rodgers for next year?

Not to mention, Rodgers contract as it stands now has a HUGE dead cap hit.
Worst case for the Jets. Another season of having a good defense, a shit offense and miss the playoffs.
Worst case for the Packers. They get absolutely for Rodgers and either have to absorb a shit ton of cap money for him NOT to play....or Rodgers plays for the Packers and if lucky have the ceiling of 1st round playoff exit.
Leverage: Jets. The minute Rodgers came out and said he expects to play for the Jets, the Packers were put in a shitty situation. A lot of this depends on home much money the Packers have to eat to have Rodgers play for the Jets or "retire.

I would also find that extremely funny. It's what the Jets should do, but Joe Douglas has said it's not an option and they are focused on getting a Rodgers deal done. Woody wants Aaron.

It's the Jets. That'll happen a season or two after they've already flushed their future down the toilet by sending a grip of draft picks to GB in exchange for the shithead QB who'd rather host tv game shows than play football.

That last part seems kind of funny considering the player is going into his 19th year. That is a hell of a commitment for someone who doesn't want to do something.

I actually think Lamar to the Jets would be a dream come true for both the Jets and Lamar. MetLife is getting new turf installed this year which I know the Giants (and Jets I would assume) players are excited about.

Nope, Rick is asking the same question you and Hawg know you can't answer. The question is: what happens if both report to work? This is a situation the Packers cannot under any circumstances tolerate, not to mention the issues BigW noted. The Jets can wait until the Pack hit a point where they have to make a move - OTAs will be around the corner, Love needs confirmation that he's the guy, the roster needs to know what's going on, etc. When that happens, the Pack will have no other option except to move Rodgers or ride with him as QB1. The Jets aren't under similar circumstances.

Leverage: Jets

You don't think GB has any urgency in knowing if they will have $60 million of cap space tied up in one player or if they can use that elsewhere? One would think they'd want to know that sooner than later.

You forget that they're run by a dumbass in Gute. He's not as savvy as you presume him to be. The last four years attest to that.
