The comments are the strongest signal yet of Musk’s ambition to transform the business he bought for $44bn into an “everything app” modelled after China’s WeChat — which is a one-stop shop for messaging, payments and shopping — although the move would likely open Twitter up to new regulatory challenges.
The one thing Twitter was always missing was a marketplace where I can buy what I already buy on Amazon.

He's one of the great innovators of our time. If born earlier, he'd be another Alexander Graham Bell.

Like most geniuses though, it mostly goes away by the age of 40 and they return to the land of above average intellect while living off their past accomplishments and mentoring others on how to achieve things.

Apparently someone needs to explain to The Genius that this is the whole raison d'etre for Twitter.

He didn't pay 44 bildough just so twitter can remain a money losing bitchfest.

How is maintaining Twitter's original functionality mutually exclusive from turning the platform into Amazon Light?

You don't think Twitter is a niche platform who's future, as is, will be ashes? His only revenue is advertising. His only promotion is lunatics.

It's kind of like saying that McDonalds should try and compete with Target. They'll be bad at the new thing and make the current thing much harder in the process.

He's already making the current thing worse, which means the new thing is less likely to succeed.

Time is the truth teller.

No doubt he bought a lemon. Now let's see if he can make some lemonade. I don't know if he can but I know it was pretty much a nothingburger with no future without changes.

I was watching Tucker interview Elon last night and Tucker asked him about the dangers of AI. I said, "It's like Terminator." My wife said, "That's fiction, you idiot." Then Musk answered, "Well, it's like Terminator."

It's been hypothesized it's one of the Great Filters. Can a civilization handle exponential technology? The singularity. Part of the Fermi Paradox.

Funny. He was talking about AI and what to do with it and to protect humankind from harm along with a couple of other subjects. Very smart man and basically a decent human being. Pretty impressive human being. What is going to happen when the creation of man becomes more intelligent than man? Along time ago back at the beginning of my career in IT I got introduced into a basic discussion of artificial intelligence and possible applications in manufacturing applications. Back then(the early 1970s) we were talking about developing so called "smart systems" that would assist man in decision making by tying in what a "smart" person would do when presented with information which require a decision to be made by the person encountering a situation. It was an interesting time to think tank things with very smart engineers and applications experts.

Now the shit is starting to hit the fan on what these things can potentially do for the good of mankind but the downside is significant if the creation becomes the tool of a tyrant or god.

Nope. My mentor was a brilliant engineer named Jim Schmidt. Taught me a lot about linear programming, advanced statistics and played a pretty good game of tennis.

He told Tucker that right now Twitter has 80% fewer employees over-all from when he bought it. That alone should mean the profitability of the company long term should be good. He didn't really buy the company with the prime goal being making money but rather to creat an information platform to have safe and fair discussion among people without fear of censorship and safety. I think that he is a good guy.

Poor quarter for Tesla due to price cuts. But that rocket launch this morning was awesome. We're lucky to have him.
