This is fantastic entertainment. The cast is very good, starting with Chris Pine as the Bard. Perfect choice. Michelle Rodriguez is also badass as the warrior. The film is co-directed by John Frances Daly, who was the main kid from "Freaks & Geeks" (also went on to be in "Bones"), and it makes perfect sense why this worked so well.

There have been nothing but disastrous D&D attempts before but this one got it right. It has a light tone which makes it more accessible (and one really, really big laugh).

The fantasy elements are not bogged down by any kind of pretentious reverence. Though I'm normally against anachronistic dialog in stuff like this, it's done in such a way that isn't obnoxious and off-putting.

Looks like it has done well at the box office so there should be spin-off/sequels that could make this a nice trilogy or film series.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

Good review W_Z. The studio didn't do it any favors releasing it at same time as John Wick and Mario. Did you see the cartoon they did in the 80s? I picked that up for my kids and I was surprised at how good that was.

The cartoon from the 80s was pretty good. I never really played the game as a yout because never found kids with similar interests.

The budgets are what kill these movies. This movie is getting good word of mouth but it needs to make 400 million to break even and it won't come close to that. Air is the same way. What should of been a nice 80 million dollar movie all in turned into a 160 million flop because Amazon doesn't know what they're doing.
