The $8 check mark revolt is pretty stupid though. It's a lot better value for the check mark crew than a lot of things they spend $8 or more a month.

I think the major complaint is that most people who use twitter hate twitter but are addicted to twitter and they'd complain if twitter did anything.

I honestly don't know if they have fixed it but the original flaw wasn't that they charged $8 a month but it was that they let anyone do whatever they wanted for $8 a month with a "verified" account. If you are going to charge $8 a month for verification you need to actually verify who it is and not let some random internet troll sign up as "Illinois department of revenue generation" and then start tweeting about Ron DeSantis.
