More than the Bears.

Yep. Draft picks plus a 50 million+ salary for the 17th best QB. It's about as dumb as it gets.

if the Packers walk away from this from any kind of financial hit on Rodgers contract, they absolutely pantsed the Jets here. They'll be worse for sure, but they couldn't even make the playoffs with St. Rodgers on the team. They get a clean slate to re-build. I look forward to seeing the 2023 last place GB Packers.

In terms of the Jets....maybe the make the playoffs, but Rodgers behavior over the last few years would indicate he's going to bring all his drama and bullshit with him and I don't see that translating to any kind of deep playoff run.

As a Bears fan, I am hoping that the Packers win 6-8 games next season: not good enough to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to draft one of the top two QB prospects in a strong 2024 class.

Florio just said the Jets had the leverage (he used that exact word) but misplayed the trade.

Exactly.

The Packers plan for 23 is the same as the Bears: see what they have in their drafted QB, knowing that him being either bad or good is a benefit to the team for 24.

We want Love to be mediocre.

Rodgers following Favre's path. Won't be long til some Jets staffer gets an AA-ron dick-pic in their DM's.

Do you think the Jets misplayed the trade? That seems pretty obvious that they overpaid.

Look...the Packers won the trade. But they won the trade because the Jets are the Jets. Any leverage the Packers had was GIVEN to them by the Jets.

They will promptly lose the trade when all their draft picks acquired turn out to be shit

You guys are overthinking this. The leverage aspect is pretty clear. GB had the one thing the Jets wanted. If you have something I want, you have the leverage during our negotiation for it. That's it. It's that simple. Yes, the Jets are a dumb organization, and if I was them I would have tried to get Lamar, but their owner publicly said they want Aaron Rodgers, and that's it. Shortly after that, their GM said they are not negotiating with Baltimore because it would be in bad faith because they only want Rodgers.

Throughout this process the Jets made it very clear they only wanted Aaron Rodgers as a QB replacement. That necessarily dictates that the team that has Rodgers has the leverage in the negotiation.

They overpaid because they desperately need a QB after publicly courting Rodgers and had to do something to address it before the draft. In other words, since the packers had the asset the jets desperately wanted, the packers had the leverage and the jets had to pay up to get it done.

The point is that it isn't overpaying in that situation. It's simply the market rate for something you want.

It's like if my car ran out of gas in a remote desert and someone came up and offered to sell me gas at $10 a gallon(Thanks Biden!). It wouldn't be overpaying to pay it because I have no leverage unless I'm willing to tell them to walk away.

It seems like this was more of a case of the Jets just overpaying because they aren't a smart organization and they would have even if the owner was silent.

Keep fighting the good fight. Sorry the packers didn’t just bend over and give away Rodgers to the jets like many ridiculously predicted.

Not really, since Ive been saying the packers held all the cards weeks ago and that the jets were desperate. Keep trying though.

This seems like it is going to keep going in circles but if the Packers held all the cards then the Jets didn't overpay.

It would be hilarious if Rodgers fails his physical and the trade doesn't go through.

How do you determine the market rate when the Jets were the only team in the Aaron Rodgers market?

He doesn't do real drugs. He eats clay and mushrooms that evidently make you see shit and turn you into a complete, condescending asshole.

Seacrest must use these too.
