The pad got annihilated. The debis knocked out engines. A deluge system certainly won't fix it like they hope. I don't see how they fly again in only 3 months.

They’re rocket scientists. If they can get Ben Affleck to space and back, I’m sure they can figure it out.

Musk had a lot of good ideas. Shooting a rocket you know was going to explode and destroy everything it was fired from may not be one of them but I'm not a billionaire so I'm probably wrong.

All those Starlink satellites are going to eventually create so much debris it will block out the sun.

hes always been shoot first apologize later. paypal STILL isn't FDIC insured, or really regulated by any means. he setup a transaction database and branded it as a bank. its insane for anyone to use that service, but I use it along with everyone else. Musk knew back in the early 2000's none of that shit really matters. people just want things to happen, and the red tape is the obstacle.

tesla was the most regulated thing hes ever done. he converted a lotus to electric to convince idiot investors and idiot government officials to fund his project, but the success came from a bunch of laid off engineers from GM during the 08 crash. they knew what they were doing.

space-x is regulated from a safety standpoint, but from an engineering perspective its the wild fucking west. its awesome. yes, the pad was destroyed. definitely a financial cost to that, but they still got the data they needed and what else matters. nobody got hurt. now they can patch the failure points and build a slightly better launch facility for the next launch. his goal is to end up with the bare minimum to get the job done, nothing really unique about that from a business standpoint. people are too used to seeing it take 20 fucking years and 10 billion dollars just to launch a few mirrors into the lagrange zone.

theyll be around 5% of the total satellites in the sky from all the other companies around the world trying to do the same thing. no, you won't be able to see saturn with your telescope. you cant even see the milky way from most places in this country anymore, which is really fucking sad. i always wonder what the social impact of basic light pollution is, because we always bitch how small minded everyone is. well no shit, from what they can tell the whole world is in their 5" phone screen. now we care theres going to be objects blocking our view from something we can't see anyway? nobody is going to care when tiktok still works in amish country.

that brief moment after the 2nd or 3rd beer where suddenly you have confidence and enunciation.

that moment when you tell yourself 'ok dude just act sober' before the cop asks you a question

right after you nut and realize you could have brought home someone hotter

Good news: It's SOP for any failed launch
Bad news: This was as close to a complete disaster as he's ever had. It's going to be a year before he can launch again. Going to have to engineer and build a pad from scratch and it has to be thoroughly tested.

I hear they need to drill down 800 feet to set footers for the pad.
