You mean a 12th grader. Haven't you seen test scores from CPS lately?

I agree. Two really good players. If stroud pans out Texans also may have made out well, but they had to cough up a lot to get Anderson.

The Ravens will probably go with another defender.

Maybe. They paid a high price and QB is always a bit of a crapshoot but I like their aggressive approach.

Because Poles is terrible at trades and acquiring compensation the Bears were the worst team in the league last year and they have just 1 pick in the top 50..

Not as many chances to improve the team thru the draft this year.

I agree Poles is inconsistent as a mover and shaker but it's misleading to frame this as just one pick on the top 50. What hea done is this:

Here's what he's actually done to improve last year's team, some of which was done mid season last year:

Claypool (effectively the Bears second 2023 first round pick)
Wright
Moore

So the above is basically the Bears 2023 day one draft class.

That is amazing how that is true considering all of the big trades they have made. Hell, the Packers have 3 of the first 45

It's not true. The day one draft class is wright, Moore, and Claypool. No commentary on if that's good or not. Just stating what is.

I'm high on Claypool, but if Nolan Smith is still on the board at 32, I will be sick.

..my point is that he’s bad at trading and maximizing compensation, he also overpays. That’s a bad combo and I fear is that he may be a poor talent evaluator on top of all that and which will lead to us dealing with more bullshit over the next couple of seasons because we have yet another incompetent GM running the show and the McCaskeys will hold on to him too long instead of recognizing the problem.

We’ll see on his talent evaluation, but he’s put this team with a lot of holes in a bad position to improve thru the draft when they should have been able to use that 1st round pick to feast on the next two drafts .

Like the pick, confused about the trade a bit but the end result is hard to argue with

Poles traded for Claypool when the Bears were still a playoff contender. He turned 5 draft picks into 13 last year. The Eagles trade was AWFUL, but Philly gave up something for a guy they would have gotten for free.

The Bears are better in every area except defensive line since Poles took over and they are positioned for future success.

Bills pay more to move up from 27 to 25 than bears got from eagles.

I’ll bet the giants out-bid the bills for #24, and now the bills just traded up for #25 from Jacksonville. I’ll bet they take porter.
