Yep. I don’t think he has any idea what he’s doing. Picks 2 guys that ‘need motivation and coaching’ after passing on Jalen Carter for the same reasons..

Maybe his babysitter Kevin Warren is out on a date leaving Poles unsupervised.

He would have given Jalen Carter FU money where these guys will have some extra financial motivation. Carter also couldn't even open his damn eyes yesterday during his interview. He might be ok on a veteran team with lots of leadership like the Eagles but he seems like a giant dead ass who is going to be fat, unmotivated and injured. That was a great move to avoid him IMO.

Poles' draft strategy continues to be dictated largely by Relative Athletic Scores....And, yes, this is very much of an Emery vibe. Did Poles and Emery overlap in their time at KC?

Awesome. All these athletic but bad at football guys can join Anthony Richardson as the Harlem Globetrotters of jumping out of pools, throwing football at ceilings, and other stuff that arouses the Phil Emerys and Ryan Polese of the world.

One of the talking heads today said that Dexter graded out higher than Carter when he entered college. Supposedly was the consensus best DT. We will see if they can bring his talent out?

I agree with the decision not to draft Carter. IF they were the Eagles talent wise, and had all pros all over the place defensively it would be one thing. But I couldn't find one guy on their defensive line that was worth a shit and they added two guys with nasty streaks to them and who are good athletes with potentially high ceilings. I also was happy that they added a solid all around CB/S in the second round. THeir secondary should be a strength next year.

Going forward, I'd go center, rb, and TE with the remaining picks along with a couple of edge rushers/lbs. Bringing in a couple of experienced veterans at linebacker and pass rusher to fill in a very young roster is most likely going to happen also.

I don't love any of the Day 2 picks, but based on my own evaluation, Pickens is easily the worst pick.

Forgive me if I trust the Bears team of scouts and head coach who coaches defense over your own evaluations. Bears drafted linemen and a CB to improve the defense. Great Job! Nothing crazy on day 2. RELAX as the great Aaron Rodgers would say.

Well, when you’re incapable of making your own analysis.. find someone else to do it for you..

I just can’t believe we’ve wound up again with a ‘smartest guy in the room’ type. Why the hell can’t we just get a guy who watches them play football and pick the best guys based off what they’ve done instead of grabbing guys who check ‘traits’ boxes..?

Unbelievable

Finally got around to reading his stuff after day two and he sees the D line as a rotational system, and thinks you can have these guys give you a few max effort downs and then rotate them out and keep them fresh.

I also see both dudes only did 22 reps on the bench and that is after prepping for that specific lift for months, so likely they maybe did maybe 15 in season, which does not exactly show a great deal of participation in a strength and conditioning program.

NFL teams think they can take these young athletic dudes who are basically getting by on raw ability and then coach and train them up.

Will it work...who knows?

You guys are cornering the market on running quarterbacks.

I have no clue why we needed one of the worst running backs in the 4th round. There were better players available and needs to fill.

He's ready and capable of replacing Fields when he gets hurt. Offense won't miss a beat.

That's exactly what Hub just said, Poles is drafting ability and expecting his coaching staff to develop them

TM is right. Pretty much every player Poles has drafted or acquired has a high RAS score.

Genuine question here…how unique is it for guys to have high athleticism scores?

I think another question - and I and I believe Nas have asked this before - what data do we have on the success rate/lack of success rate on players with disparities b/w "athletic scores" and actual football production? Basically, do the combine warriors ever pan out? Another way of asking this is how many Anthony Richardsons have we seen in the past - guys with no production whatsoever but appear to be really talented - and what happens to those types of prospects once they're drafted. Is there a success story anywhere of a guy being drafted purely on athleticism alone and then that guy actually becoming legitimately productive on a field or court? I can think of plenty of horror stories (Jonathan Bender, Darius Miles, etc.) but trying to think of success stories.

There are combine freaks like Richardson, for sure. But that’s why I’m curious what the RAS for the general population of people capable of being NFL athletes looks like.

Site was down earlier but I’m curious if this is a bell curve type thing or if it’s like a “hey, turns out this professional football player is super athletic!” kind of thing.
