There are a handful of posters I check in with now and again, especially if I haven't seen them post much of late. I had sent shirtless a text and PM a few weeks back and never heard back. I only knew his first name but knew where he lived. Knew that he had been battling some medical issues so I did a search for an obit and unfortunately came up with what I thought was a winner. Just so happens his wife works for the same company I do but in another location. I e-mailed and got confirmation that he in fact did pass on January 25th of this year. 48 is way too young :(

He lived up near me and although we didn't know each other well we car pooled to a bowling event and I met him out for a few beers once. Good guy who clearly was passionate about music and also liked sports like most of us here. Dropping in a link below to the last thread I can find that he posted in. Feel free to drop in your memories of him or maybe a link to a funny thread maybe he was a part of.

well that sucks. first sini/sinicalypse and now shirtless_driver...y'all gotta stop with the dying. we can't afford to lose posters like this, board traffic is down enough as it is.

googled sinocalypse to check spelling, and, hooboy. no wonder he went by sinicalypse

I had been in touch with him off and on for a while after finding out he was in poor health since I was also dealing with significant medical issues. As he discussed on the board, he had lived a hard life but was desperately trying to turn things around so he could be a good parent to his young child. He seemed to become deeply religious late in his life as he wrested himself from the grip of addiction. He struck me as a bit of a paradox in that he was immensely strong and fiercely determined while also being acutely aware of his vulnerability as a person who likely didn't have much time remaining among the living. I make no claim to knowing him particularly well, but he seemed to possess a restless quality that was central to his being and is very familiar to me. I hope he found peace before he passed away. I enjoyed my interactions with him even if his assessment of U2's greatness was irretrievably misguided.

That sucks  I enjoyed that bowling outing immensely and he corrected me on me pronouncing Sufjan Stevens. I’m sad to say I can’t quite remember what he looked like now but I think I said he reminded me of Steven Page.

My condolences to his family and I’ll miss randomly having the back-and-forth on the board.

And rest peacefully Mr. Driver.

My Lord, this sucks. Seemed like a good dude. We had a good pm discussion about a few things back before Covid. So sad. RIP.

Well said TM.

Thoughtful and an incredibly accurate description of shirtless and all that he was, and struggled with personally

Shirtless and I grew up somewhat close to the same area and while discussing music over PM's....learned we had some mutual friends way back.

This sucks...I recall he was struggling, but he was a genuinely good guy. ugh.
RIP Shirtless Driver

Good guy with whom many of us had some spirited but always good-natured music discussions. I'm really sad to hear the news.

There are a group of people you slot to always read what they say. He was one for me if I saw him post something - even if I didn't really care about the subject.

I didn't know anything about his personal struggles but that is just sad. Sad to hear.

He was pretty open about his struggles....he had Ascites and liver issues.

Liver issues from drinking. He did seem like a nice guy. I think he was uncomfortable pink which I think of from time to time when putting on lipstick. I'm sad for him and his family.
