I like it

I can take a Chicago version of the 06 Cardinals or 87 Twins.

The 2005 Astros started out 15-30.

And the Glorious 03 Marlins couldn't have started much better

-Eloy Jimenez is heading to Birmingham for a 3-4 day rehab assignment before returning from the IL. It’s very possible that he will return for the next homestand.

-Elvis Andrus is likely to be heading on a rehab assignment starting next week.

-Bryan Ramos (#3 prospect) has been added to Kannapolis’ lineup as he begins a rehab assignment.

-Liam Hendriks will throw live BP on Friday in Detroit with the team. Could return in 7-10 days.

-Jake Burger is taking ground balls at second base. Grifol sounded open to it on an occasional basis.
Burger at 2nd

Such a terrible job by Hahn (and Kenny!) to continue to have black holes at 2nd and RF. Its only been an issue for this team since the 2019 off season.

If Burger goes back to 2B, at least on a limited basis, this is just the latest example of how poorly this team has been built - with a glut of DH/1B types (Sheets, Burger, Eloy, Vaughn) who are all probably DH on a normal roster, but playing RF/1B and now 2B. There is clear talent on this roster, but it looks like a mishmash that doesn't account for defense.

7 walks is typical for Giolito? I haven't looked it up but I bet coming in he's got like 10 walks for the entire year.

Close, he has 12. Looked good starting out. Jekyll and Hyde sort of thing with him.

You're just about the last person who hasn't given up on Giolito.

He has to trick, out think, and have great command to be good. It's a lot to ask and many times he does. He's dependably healthy, he eats innings, he's an asset that would be even better with a defense behind him.

It's unfortunate he thinks he's a #2.

Don't think I don't know what Giolito is. Have you seen what a healthy Dane Dunning is doing this year? He's throwing it into a teacup. When I watch painters, I cream my pants.

I just find it strange that you piss all over a guy with average stuff who has a 4 ERA and don't really complain about a guy who's absolutely filthy and has a 5. Guy was practically falling off the mound after delivery, and golly, I wonder what's wrong. Really? Out of the two of them, who's the dumbass?

Burger being able to stand at 2B at least lets them use him as an option to pinch hit for Andrus and the other 2Bs late when they are losing, then let him finish the game in the field.

But they really need to make a trade, send either Eloy or Burger on their way (Moncada is untradable) and get back a real middle infielder who can hit .270/.320/.385 with a lot of doubles and stolen base ability.

If they're looking for a stop gap solution at second, I think it would make more sense to start Moncada at second and Burger at third. If they have a lead in the 6th, they can then shift as needed.

Lynn brought his good stuff but Moncada decided to have his head up his ass in the first inning and gave the Tigers two extra outs. Benintendi dropped a diver but he gets a pass, looked like the sun had something to do with it.

Nice to see them score early and often after last night's crap fest.
