Someone needs to explain "spelling" to Caller Bob, though I'm not sure how much he would grasp.

I just don't see a way around a sell off, so might as well get to it early.

As long as they are within "striking distance', which is about where they are now at 7 GB, I don't see them likely to start selling pieces. They can start selling in early July if things don't change and it would still be pretty early. It hasn't happened and there's no reason to think it will in June, but they are still holding out hope that this team wins 17 of 21 games and takes over the division. With the Yankees, Rangers, Dodgers amongst the teams they will be playing in June, it's hard to see this team playing .500, much less going on the type of run needed to make you think they can compete for the division in any serious way. Selling seems the most likely outcome here, but they still have another 30-40 games before the front office realizes it's fate.

Problem is though, that this team needs more than selling of their upcoming free agents. This team isn't good and hasn't been since 2021 all star break. They have talent, but something is very broken here with the current group and has been for 2 years+. The minor league system has no talent and they probably need a larger reset than what Hahn is likely to do.

They need to be within 'striking distance' of a world series. That was the point of this rebuild.

They are so far off from that its disgusting.

Chris Getz needs to go, too. A lot of this is on him.

Please explain how Liam blew the game.
Thanks.

Seacrest was attempting to be edgy, you know, with Hendricks having cancer and all, so he thought that would be shock jocky and somebody might give him a laughy face for it.

It is kind of bizarre that everyone is throwing bouquets at Hendriks in a game for which he was absolutely terrible, coming back from a cancer that is like one of the most beatable cancers out there.

Wasnt he supposed to come in and revamp the minor leagues from the bottom up? Teach everyone in the system the White Sox way. The White Sox way sucks. I dont watch much minor league ball but I would imagine the affiliates look much like the pile of dog shit that they show us nightly at the ML level. I truly dont believe that this can ever be fixed. Jerry by all accounts is a very loyal guy but it kills the franchise to not be able to gut it completely.

His biggest problem is with teams that wait for fastballs and ignore all of his breaking stuff. There are a ton of umpires who do not call borderline pitches strikes. Cease is having the same trouble. For a couple of outings Giolitto had more velocity on his fastball and he did well.

By all available rankings the White Sox farm system is in the bottom 10 and has maybe 1 Top 100 prospect. There just isn't much there. Getz should be out of a job. Even if you look at the current roster, they haven't really done most of their player acquisitions through the draft - only Vaughn, Burger, Anderson, Crochet unless I'm missing someone obvious.....They have traded for other teams prospects during the rebuild (Kopech, Moncada, Giolito, Cease, Jimenez) and used free agency to fill it out....signed Robert internationally, Lynn, Clevinger, Grandall, Benintendi, Andrus...

I'm obviously not holding trading proven talent for younger minor league prospects as part of the rebuilding plan, but they really haven't added much from the minor leagues over the last few seasons.

Considering they are hovering between 8 and 12 games under .500, 'striking distance' of a world series, which was the goal as you said, isn't realistic at all right now. It's pretty shocking how bad this team has been.

Leaving Burger out of the starting line-up is stupid. He is their best hitter over-all the entire season thus far.

Bump.

Good for the kid. There might be a lot of upside with him. He has a nice swing and appears to battle on all of his at bats and can go the other way with some power. I wish Robert and Moncada had similar. With all of the trade rumors, I wish someone would make a trade offer for Moncada. He's undependable in the line-up with ouchies in virtually every game.

He was in an 0-32 slump before a first inning single yesterday. A day off might do him good.

Realistic right now or not, that was the goal of this rebuild. I was not willing to celebrate some turnaround last year to win the division. I feel the same way this year. I certainly won't root against the Sox and I hope they have some great turnaround, but anything short of winning the pennant is a failure this season. I said the same thing last year. You can check the tapes.

In 2019 or so Rick Hahn said 'they had accomplished nothing until the season ends with a Championship parade down Michigan Ave.' That is almost word for word. Guess what? The Sox have accomplished nothing recently.

Not saying you are moving the goal posts, but others definitely have and if they want to celebrate a loss in the Wild Card series should it happen as some form of success, then let them eat cake. I'm holding my team to a higher standard.

If Lynn gets rocked again today- and he's heading that direction- you have to DFA him or stick him on the IL for a couple weeks. There has to be somebody in Charlotte or Birmingham that can do better than a 6+ ERA and 1.5 WHIP

Prior to today, his previous 3 starts were pretty good. They have no depth either. I wouldn't expect any changes there as long as he's able to pitch.

On another note, what is the point of Rick Hahn talking? I didn't think he said anything crazy. He said it's too early to make any decisions and that the team was showing signs of playing better, but had underperformed due to a variety of issues.

To answer my own question, listening to Bernstein/Holmes, Holmes says he didn't have an issue with what Hahn said, but then today (and yesterday's show) was pretty much just complaining about the answer and the construction of the team. If he talks, they don't like what he says...If he doesn't talk, they complain that he doesn't talk.

Not sure what's the point of him saying anything, can't make them happy or even relatively rational to what he is saying.
