Thanks to all the people who post on this board, it has provided tons of entertainment. Never thought I would post here, and probably won't again. I've listened to a few Mike North web shows over the past few weeks, and have to say Rodeo Van is right on, they are pretty awful.

The monday after the Cubs had clinched the Division and the Sox were playing Detroit that night, he spent the first hour talking about among other things, the score, mike north, dan mac, mike north, dontfademe.com, mike north, how his show is completely revolutionary, and more mike north. I didn't think it could get worse than that. He had the Cubs, Sox, and Bears served up to him on a platter to talk about but chose to talk primarily about himself. It hasn't improved much.

Today might be the worst. Mike just badgers reporters with the same 4 questions, screams "fess up" at them, and has some fess up or not fess up list. Just poor poor entertainment. I'm not going to recap the show, Van does a good job at that, but this is just unbearable. He honestly asks the same 4 questions of about 10 guests. Really bad.

As a general comment, as much as he claims that he is a pioneer for internet radio or internet entertainment, I don't think Mike North understands what he is up against on the web. The web isn't radio, it is much more competitive for lack of a better word. When he was on the radio, he was competing against probably 3-4 other stations (sports and morning talk). So even if your show is poor you're going to back into some listeners. This isn't the case on the web.

I live in Houston now, but grew up in Illinois listening to the Score. Mike wants people to listen to him on the web, but if you have web access, you have access to literally 1000s of entertainment options. I often listen to Houston radio, Los Angeles radio, Chicago radio, or any of the thousand other listening options on the internet. Youtube alone has unlimited listening options.

Because of this, to get someone to tune into your webcast, you have to really be quality entertainment, because there are too many options available for the listener to put up with crappy entertainment can't even be described as enjoyable, but in actuality is completely annoying. This is what Mike doesn't understand, his crappy show barely was passable on the radio, but on the internet it isn't even in the top 95% of my listening options. He can't last long on the web if he doesn't change the whole program.

Again, I enjoy reading everyone posting, just thought I'd throw a one time post up here after this mess today. I'll keep on reading all the hillarity here.

Nice post. I recall listening to North's special "For the listeners" broadcast last summer. All he did was congratulate himself and thank his friends and sponsors. Now this webio show and his ridiculous tout site. North should be embarrased and ashamed of himself.
