Spiegel the Score's "baseball expert" was on with Gabe Ramirez. He officially announced the Cubs are a bad team and playoff hopes are gone. Anytime Spiegel has an opinion the opposite has to be taken seriously. Now 6 under .500 they'd have to be 20 over here out to get to 88 wins. Highly unlikely but they have the Matt Spiegel curse on their side.

if there were any baseball “experts” either on the Score or in the national media that thought the Cubs were a playoff team they should be fired from their job immediately and be forbidden to talk about baseball ever again

Odd that usually tight-lipped JD & Coomer would both come on the Score saying that
Taillon is abandoning the sweeper pitch forced on him by the Cubs.

Bernstein seriously recommended that JD stroll through crime infested Brooklyn on his free time in New York.

There are some nice parts of Brooklyn. A friend of mine who grew up there and now lives out in the suburbs organizes a Saturday in Brooklyn every June. Strategic use of subways to get between areas. Meanwhile, many of the full-service hotels run $400/night on a summer weekend.

It's not like he told JD to wander around the Bronx.

The Daily-Herald has been doing some multi part stories on Cubs & Sox prospects who failed from years back. Good reading getting their views from their side.

Cubs need to trade Marcus Stroman. He's having a career best year and he still has a .500 career pitching record. It's a sellers market, get a boatload of prospects! This team is still 2-3 years away from being a true WS contender.

Cubs bottom 3 of the lineup .192 BA or below. Miles M would of been 4.

Shouldn't they be sponsoring runs?

And he's starting to turn into a pumpkin as expected. Sell while you can

It's a small sample size but not many pitchers get to pitch in a league championship game either.

2015 ALCS Game 3 versus the Royals: 6.1 IP 11 hits 4 ER 1 BB 1 K

2016 ALCS Game 3 versus the Indians: 5.1 IP 3 hits 4 ER 2 HR 3 BB 5 K

more insurance runs here in the 9th.

Been watching this series on YES. So much better than Marquee - such a breath of fresh air.

No stupid non-baseball bullshit topics from Boog like Anime or whatever they call that shit when adults dress up like Japanese cartoon characters - it's just baseball talk from the first inning on.

Yankes giveth away the win for the Cubs.

So at the end of the first half they're 5 games back of .500

When the season started I thought they'd be 10 back of .500 by ASB.

They play like shit for long stretches then do something like this taking 2/3 from the Yanks in NY.

The division is total shit so I can see why they want to be buyers. But it's fools gold . They should start trading guys for some real prospects. Not like that bum pitcher they got from the Giants for Bryant.

Looking at the numbers for their starting guys the last couple days it is amazing they have as good of a record as they do.

The outfielder Canario was the bigger piece of that trade. He would be in Chicago right now if he hadn't hurt his shoulder and ankle in winter ball. Big strong rangy RF who can play CF as well, with crazy power.

He's at least playing again which is good. Probably be in center if Alcantara wasn't in South Bend as well.I wonder if they will skip AA with the tacky ball if he does well at south Bend. Like most of the prospects the Cubs have, he strikes out too much but that is probably the old man in me when it comes to that. Thankfully not at the Owen Cassie rate at least.

First round draft pick is Matt Shaw, a MI from Maryland. Scouts seem to project ceiling as more power than Hoerner but better defense than Happ.

The Cubs are so ifs, maybes, next year, potential high ceiling spiel heavy already it's hard to get excited about their mid-round draft.

Yes the talent levels not declining in MLB. Boston put a bum reliever to clean up in the 9th with a 5 run lead. Guy can't get the ball over the plate with heavy rain coming. Has a 10+ career era in 30 games.

ZZ filling in for Coomer as Pat's color commentator. How insulting to the fans. Are they that cheap they couldn't get an ex player to fill in.

They're going to trade Bellinger and keep Happ when they should do the opposite.
