Saw this today

It was ok

Way too long. The chase scene in Morocco was unnecessary.

The special effects to make Ford young was well done. That was the best part of the movie when they show WW2 scenes.

Other than that if you have a dad or grandad near 80 he’ll love it. It was like they were trying to fight Father Time really hard and relive Fords glory days.

Not a movie to must watch in the theaters. Wait for the VHS tape to come out at blockbuster (an ode to geezers).

Pathetic that after just its first week it lost the top box office spot to some move called "Insidious:5".

I thought that movie Sound of Freedom beat it. The Jim Caviezel movie that didnt get any promotion and the MSM and Hollywood shit all over it.

btw for Dial of Destiny, forgot to mention the lead actress was total shit.

Another manly looking British nobody actress with a shit attitude. How many of these fuckers does Hollywood need to push in our face every movie? Just stop it. Is it so hard to give us an old fashioned all american bombshell? Like in the past? Put her on all the fucking posters/ads/clips so every male in this country will go out to see the movie in the theater!!! It use to be called EYE CANDY!

--

also i thought in this movie I was watching the grumpy old Harrison Ford rather than Indiana Jones.

Saw it yesterday. Cleared the low bar of being better than Crystal Skull. The time travel thing isn’t really an issue. Time travel’s just the artifact de jour, when they actually time travel it’s not really some overwrought scenario.

The last I checked, the "WOKE" Indiana Jones movie wasn't doing so hot at the box office, losing to the likes Sound of Freedom and The Red Door

They should have just had a multiverse where Chris Pratt is Harrison Ford.

That is exactly who I thought should have been cast as a new Indy, instead of trudging out Ford again.

This movie is in trouble. It needs to make close to a billion and its sitting at around 245 global right now. Its a race between this and The Flash to see which will be the worst flop in history.

It also would worked to have Ford basically playing Sean Connery from the early ones and Chris Pratt playing Ford from the early ones.

Even River Phoenix would be too old to play Indy by now.

Nobody under 65 wants to see an 80year old leading man.

Nobody goes to theaters anymore unless it’s a big deal like Star Wars.

These fuckers shouldn’t have waited so long to make another Indy film.

Btw Ford is the biggest asshole in the biz. It’s funny I’ve seen him the last few weeks on podcasts and YouTube shows trying to promote this movie when you can tell he doesn’t want to be there. Grumpy old man

He kinda does, it's called acting, he's pretty good at it.

All the Indy movies are available on Disney plus.

The only one I have not seen is Crystal Skull. I heard it's bad but I would like to watch and decide for myself.

I will watch it today and report back to everyone here.

Or you can watch it today then go recreate the atomic bomb testing site scene with the old ass refrigerator. That would be preferred.

Halfway thru and I like it so far.

I Like the 1950s theme.

Also I think Shia LeBouf is annoying but he's ok thus far in this movie.

The way they filmed it its very true to Indy. More than Dial of Destiny.

Will watch the 2nd half later or tomorrow.

Bob Deniro gets a lot of criticism that in all his roles he is basically doing the same act but that's more true with Harrison Ford.

Han Solo, Indy Jones, basically same character. Fugitive too, and most of his other roles.

One trick pony.

Crystal Skull is better than Temple of Doom.

Temple of Doom sure hasn't aged well, good action scenes though.

the dumbest things in Temple of Doom were at least creative and inventive. The dumbest things in Crystal Skull were Hallmark movie rejects (the wedding scene) and Disney live action movie rejects (the jungle scene). Not to mention...the alien itself. Which looked like a M.I.B. deleted scene.

Skull is also painfully long. Doom is a clip under 2 hours.

I dont like the vine swinging - maybe if he did one swing to like, get back onto a jeep, wouldve fit the type of Indy movie happenings. but the extended swinging with monkeys was lame AF.

But, I can overlook it because the opening and the call back to Raiders' ending is great. If nuke fridge wasnt shown flying a mile, Id be more forgiving on that sequence. Ill still take it over a river raft from a plane.

Of all those things the raft is actually plausible. Mythbusters tested it and it can indeed work.

Finished Crystal Skull and it wasn't too bad.

The middle sort of was too disney with Shia sword fighting and swinging from vines.

i remember at that time there was talk Shia was going to take over the Indy role after Harrison Ford gave it up.

But Shia's career fizzled.

There was some story in Dial of Destiny that now i understand after watching Crystal.

I still would rank

Raiders and Crusade as 1a/1b interchangeable.

i may need to see Skull again to see if it's a solid #3 still or Crystal is better.

Dial is too soon to be ranked. Need another 5-10 years to properly assess it.

The worst part is they were surprised it flopped. They were getting terrible feedback during audience testing. They still dragged Iger to Cannes to watch people laugh at his crappy expensive movie.
Disney can't do anything right. Crystal Skull did Cannes but it got wide release 2 days later. Indy 5 did Cannes and got killed and sat there for 6 weeks with terrible reviews before wide release.

I didn't think this was as bad as people were making it out to be. I also don't think they treated Indy disrespectfully. I think they could have even handed his role over to a god daughter that was cast better. Ford is old as dirt, but he looks like a guy who might be able to conjure up some old man strength. Waller-Bridge is relatively young. Would it have killed her to get into the best shape of her life when playing an action role in a billion dollar film? She didn't even look like she knew how to run.

The villains were all great and understood the Indy formula for balancing menacing and slapstick.
