We are all time travelers.

But time is an illusion. It's all happening at once.

You're wrong in your conjecture. Mathematically, it would be nearly impossible for us to be alone. That's as close to opposite you can get from saying we might be alone because it's not proven that we aren't

Another angle I like to ponder.. this would be for the religious folks too... Nobody really believes life can evolve to prosper in space. It's not like life can naturally travel between the stars. So if we are supposed to find someone else, it will only happen because of technology. So next time so hippie girl tells you she hates your truck because it's not natural, tell her it's the only way you will find a better version of her.

Why don't aliens ever show up in big cities? Why are they always in some desert or in some far off place? There is no resource on our planet that they couldn't find in abundance in space OR manufacture themselves. Whatever we're seeing is military testing or optical illusions.

Well then. Its settled.

No one does science better than Nas, believe me.

Cool!
To be fair it is positively ridiculous to think there isn't life out there somewhere. Hell I think there's life elsewhere in the solar system. Could we be getting visited? I mean... maaaaaaybe? Hell we've been blasting our existence into the galaxy since 1897. So anyone within 126 light years might know we're here. That's like 60k stars!

Make no mistake, I absolutely think there is life in our universe. Mathematically, it's virtually impossible for our planet to be the only one with life and intelligent life.

Word. Now it becomes a matter of technology. Some say any civilization advanced enough to destroy itself will do so. Others say any civilization sufficiently advanced to have developed FTL travel would have had to be a peaceful civilization and would not wish us harm. You're right, there's no resource on earth that is so precious that it cannot be found everywhere. There's a hell of a lot more water available in the kuiper belt than on earth so why destroy trillions of lives to get it?

You should read The Three Body Problem trilogy. The translation from the original Cantonese or Mandarin is a little rough, but it depicts a lot of real science and presents a much different take on the benevolence of aliens.

I think there is life out there. Most of it isn't sentient like humans and animals.

I just don't think we are going to ever reach each other so we almost should treat it like we are going it alone.

Arrogant human, thinks he's better than alien life. Sad! Even your grass warns other life about what you are doing to it.

Nah, the original Men in Black is the real gospel hiding in plain sight. (The sequels were just a cover-up.)

My days at WIU are a bit murky at times, but do not remember any mountains, seems to me that Higgings Hall (RIP) was the tallest structure in Macomb?

Then again there was plenty of time spent drinking cheap beer during my pursuit of my undergraduate degree, so it is entirely possible I missed the mountains while chasing young ladies at the Regulator.

Q lot was always a hell of a walk on the way TO. Not so bad on the way back, 20 keystones deep.

That's a big chunk of book(s). I didn't finish. It was depressing af, too.

The aliens are bad, right?

Arthur C. Clarke and Douglass Adams had a good perspective on aliens: They didn't give a damn about us. If we were in the way, we were in the way.

If a bunch of ant hills were against your house and they were making their way in(Elon Musk), You're going to spray the whole side of the house. However if the house is vacated(galaxy) it's theirs.

I hope the galaxy is empty. Just seems not to smart to cheer for intelligent life in the milky way.

I agree with that. If we found a civilization a few hundred years or more behind ours, we'd destroy the place, even if we had the best of intentions. An advanced civilization which sees us as a nuisance or as insects would destroy us.

An advanced civilization that sees us in a paternalistic way would destroy us.

And we would simply ignore an advanced civilization which could teach us how to rise above our animal instincts.

Would be cool to terraform an empty planet and have a Judge Garth-sized ranch, though.

That's pretty much the point of The Three BodyProblem. If you encounter a civilization that is anywhere near on its way to exploring space, you destroy it before it can destroy you.

Good little read. Mentions Brin, too.

I wonder if super-advanced civilizations leave their bodies behind. Like, they're energy or some sort of machine/computer thing but still retain the good aspects of their living minds.

There must not be anything of value on Earth because you would think that aliens would regularly come here to grab stuff that was useful to them...unless they already have.

Maybe they have seen Sex in the City and think that there must not be any intelligent life on Earth because human males actually find Carrie Bradshaw attractive and attempt to mate with her.

The only thing we thought was unique was possibly water. We are discovering water all over the galaxy now.

Yea and I completely agree. They want us to believe this shit, because if we knew they invented this tech and aren't letting us use it... I mean, they're probably causing global warming with it. So obviously if we knew, they would all lose their lives.

Lmao the Pentagon blocked their requests for info again. The hearings won't be about shit. Just more 'wtf is this we don't know' all while it's obvious it's military tech https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.newsna ... aring/amp/

Kinda fascinating the military won't even let Congress in on it though. I guess they can't, if they're trying to keep secrets. But still... Where's the line? It's been 80 years they have had this tech. At some point, the public has a right to know.

Have heard several people admit it is all just advanced technology they do not want the public to know about yet and it is easy to distract the public by creating UFO stories.

They have inadvertently exposed some of the advanced surveillance and drone technology during the latest Russian military adventure but have heard it said that the military has technology that is 10 or more years ahead of the regular world.

and who better to sell the little green men in flying saucers cover story for mind-bending military R&D than other, out-of-the-loop enlisted and selected impressive sounding but ultimately not in the know military brass.

i think even if the proposed disclosure legislation goes through, there's a 25 year grace-period before any requirements to disclose/force-of-law penalties kick in.

man they are hell bent on making everyone believe these really are aliens. congress actually trying to expose them, or is this a 4d chess move where they 'expose' the pentagon to releasing alien info, when all along they all know its military tech? seems like a risky move if the case, because eventually the truth comes out.
