Hopefully first of MANY moves. Prospects are suspects until they prove otherwise, but seems like a decent return for 2 rentals

I’d be lying if i said i knew anything about the prospects, but apparently they are the Angels #2 and 3. The catcher is top 100. Now, the Sox being able to do anything with them…..

Roster resource has them as their #2 and #8 prospect with the ETA as 2025

But they are not guys that are going to help the team next year. Definitely looks like a move showing this is going to be a longer term deal.

Quero seems like a legit prospect. MLB Pipeline has 2023 as the ETA for the pitcher. I would have thought Giolito could have taken down both those guys by himself, but I'm pleased with the return.

With Gio gone, positively no reason to keep Katz around.

Half their roster has been AAA all season.

Who's untouchable now? Eloy? Robert? I'd trade TA as fast as I could, that dude seems like he might be a true asshole.

He's somebody who could be up and contributing next year. The catcher is really young (20 years old), so he's going to take longer. We'll see what other teams get before we know if they could have done better.

He might be an upgrade over Grandal right now. And Zavala is hitting well under .200

I'm not sure trading TA makes sense now. His value is significantly lower than it was at the start of last season. His contract is reasonable enough to keep.

The only reason to trade him is if you're planning to buy him out anyway.

What a fraud. You thought they were contenders in spring training. I was clear they were short on pitching and had 3 or 4 holes in the lineup. Simple Frank simple franking

That would be contending in this division.

As most stated, no one was going to be excited for a AL Central chumpionship. We've all had it with dumb baseball. Kelly, Diekman, Anderson, Jake Burger, Grandal, they epitomize what's wrong with baseball. The White Sox just happen to be the poster child for retarded MLB baseball. Hell, I even hate Cease. Just another thrower. And not that it didn't have to be done, now they traded their only pitcher. Nothing left but throwers.

General manager Rick Hahn just might have come up with a new White Sox slogan while answering a question about the team's offseason buzz during a press conference in the lead-up to SoxFest.

“In terms of feeling like we've accomplished something or [are] feeling satisfied,” Hahn said Thursday at Guaranteed Rate Field, “ask me after the parade.”

They appeared to have the Dodgers included in a bidding war. They were the team who would have had the best available prospects but they didn't match. This was as good as it was going to get.

Agreed. Giolito was going to walk and "Lopey" would have been non tendered. Sox can go after one or both during the offseason if they so choose. This isn't a bad return at all for two rentals.

Though I can all but guarantee that the Angels are picking up the rest of Giolito's salary this year. If the JERRY had been willing to eat some cash, they might have been able to do a little better.

Here’s renowned play by play guy, erstwhile baseball expert, and person who has a daily sports talk show Matt Spiegel opining on the rumor yesterday that for some unknown reason , the Tampa Bay Rays were interested in acquiring Lance Lynn.

Lance went on to give up 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings, throw 100 pitches and see his ERA go up to 6.47. BuT TaMpA wIlL fIx hIm !!!!

I think that Katz is probably a very good technician but not your typical pitching or game coach. There is a difference. I thought that it was a mistake when they hired LaRussa and part of my thinking was due to Dave Duncan not being brought in also to run the pitching staff, something that LaRussa never did in his lifetime and something that Katz never had any expertise with either. It is one thing to teach pitching mechanics and another to deal with in game adjustments, monitor arm movements, set training rules and regimens and in game decisions and managing one's bull-pen and game decisions in conjuction with the manager. I think when you look at the White Sox, the decisions made between the manager and pitching coaches need to be heavily criticized for their responsibility in MISMANAGING the club in a majority of their games.

So who gets traded on Friday?

I will guess Joe Kelly to Houston, for a catering order of Torchy's Tacos and Amy's Ice Cream for the White Sox front office.

He should have been gone a long time ago. He has done nothing for this pitching staff. Cooper would at least occasionally turn a nothing into useful pieces. I think Katz has actually made ever pitcher worse that has come to the Sox.
