The Tucker Barnhart signing was piggybacked to the Willson Contreras '22 era bashing. He definitely wasn't just a guy to mop the floors. He was going to share time with Gomes to build the pitching culture but with a weak bat. His 4+ '22 era was said to be an outlier. His leadership, culture and gold glove were played up in contrast to great Satan WC. Multiple times even usually hands off to touting JD was on the Score playing the angle gingerly. Amaya's not talent but health and durability were in huge question when Tucker Barnhart was signed. When now healthy Amaya was praised as a quick learn TB and his 47 ops+ days were numbered. Hopefully the days of getting bums like this to play major roles are winding down and instead of shuffling "journeymen" the pleasant problem in '24 is finding playing time for talented on the cusp young players.
