Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year's gone by and how little we've grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake we know it's not to be. That's one option. Finding a woman who's attractive, fun, trustworthy, has your back, and has managed to not bring a lot of baggage......it's a needle in a haystack. I'm just not going to compromise. But you have to compromise a bit to be in a relationship or you are going to die alone. I spent my 40's jumping from one girl to the next. Sure the random sex with different girls was fun. So was having all the free time I wanted to do whatever I pleased. But then I realized if I keep this up eventually time will run out and all that free time will be spent alone in a nursing home. I've come to change my thinking to life is better if you share it with someone. Sure it requires a bit of sacrifice, but I am much happier now being in a relationship.

There's no such thing as a 50/50 compromise. We all instinctively want 51% or more. Collaboration is fine, but I can understand how there comes a point in time where "compromising" with a biological woman is pointless. It appears to be around the time the kids become adults.

I wouldn't encourage anyone to start over later in life, but I'm enjoying this process far more than I did the first time around. I don't think I could love anything or anyone more. Besides, he's already smarter than me, so I just have to pretty much put food in front of him.
