thought he was safe..cubs had to concentrate a bit more on previous 30 ABs before the top of the 9th. too bad a hendricks 'quality' start got wasted against a club that was 14 games under.

Keller was outstanding last night. Sometimes you just need to tip your cap to the other side. Bodnar is a good closer, yet the Cubs looked much better hitting against him. Keller just had everything working and got into a great, fast rhythm and kept his pitch count low. Turn the page and get back on track tonight.

Hawg - I think the division race is pretty much over. The good thing for the Cubs is the rest of the NL is weak.

The supposed weak schedule isn't weak now. Every team they play on their schedule now - other than the Rockies - is in the division or WC race.

The big problem is going to be the last week of the season the Cubs Play AT the Braves and AT the Brewers.

Who knows by then if those teams will start coasting. I doubt it . Braves will probably be playing for home field.

But it's interesting that in the NL, the gap between the Braves/Dodgers and Brewers/WC teams is enormous. When the Brewers got swept by the Dodgers last week, they looked like a non-contender.

But in the NL - the team I think will come out - AGAIN - is the Phillies. They know how to beat the Braves, and I dont' think the Dodgers will beat them.
