The Cardinals are calling up top prospect Masyn Winn, the team announced Thursday. The shortstop is expected to arrive in St. Louis for Friday’s game against the New York Mets, as first reported by The Athletic. Here’s what you need to know:

Winn, 21, entered play Thursday hitting .283 with a .821 OPS in 104 games for Triple-A Memphis.
He connected on his 18th homer of the season in the Redbirds’ 6-2 win over Norfolk.
Winn entered the season ranked as the No. 46 prospect in baseball, per The Athletic’s Keith Law.
Lars Nootbaar was placed on the 10-day injured list (lower abdomen contusion) as the corresponding move.

https://theathletic.com/4786381/2023/08/17/cardinals-calling-up-masyn-winn/

Hit 50 Balanced stance with a quiet setup and moderate load and leg kick; Above-average bat speed, can get overly aggressive in the approach, needs to improve pitch recognition, will get out front on breaking stuff; shows the ability to make hard contact, currently raw hitter but tool will play average with experience.
Power 40 Makes up for lack of size and physical strength with a quick stroke, mild leverage in the swing, will sell out for power in hitters counts and pull the occasional mistake over the fence but future in-game pop will be doubles type.
Baserunning/Speed 70 Double-plus raw foot speed, quick out of the box, will be a base stealing threat with more experience; aggressive base runner.
Glove 60 Glove is still raw but Winn has the physical tools for it to play plus in the future; Shows good instincts and a quick first step, soft hand and a lightening quick transfer; will be able to stick up the middle.
Arm 80 Unrivaled, elite arm strength, a weapon defensively; accurate and able to make any throw in the infield.
Overall
An exceptional athlete, Winn was drafted as a potential two-way player but has yet to take the mound professionally. The Cardinals reportedly plan on letting him find his comfort zone as a positional player before easing him into a pitching role. The speed and defense give a high floor and with expected hit tool development he profiles as a future everyday shortstop.

This kid is wiry, fast-twitch guy with a rocket arm, and is a 4.5-tool player. He's not as exciting as an Elly de la Cruz, but he may have the better career; "Blaze" Wynn has a legit shot to stay at SS. He threw 98.5 Mph off a mound in high school, i can't wait for a blowout and he zings a couple bullets at 98 over a guys head. :bom: :drunken:

And a .821 OPS in the International League is not impressive. They are getting desperate.

If Caller Bob is unimpressed I'm pretty excited.

The immortal Oscar Colas had an 866 OPS at Charlotte, ask The Subdivision how that's working out.

which translates to a .367 wOBA and an 107 wRC. For a glove-first shortstop who hasn't even filled out yet (he's 21 you dumbass) that is very impressive.
Winn is a future GG-caliber SS. Colas is an older 4th OF type, with a similar bat. GTFO of here with that.

Unless you want to stop trying so hard to troll, and come back here with some real knowledge or baseball intelligence, come back here and get slapped around again. Next question?

.1100 OPS in July and .940 OPS in August for a 21 year-old, supposedly light-hitting SS at AAA. Pretty exciting!

I wish the Brewers would just go ahead and call up Chourio, I know he is only 19 but he is the real deal.

I haven't closely followed Chourio, but he is considered the #2 prospect, no reason to rush him.
He is still learning plate discipline, and he still struggles with breaking balls; he's only going to face tougher pitchers that can locate better than AA as he advances. He's an exciting prospect for sure.

you can never tell w/ these prospects. it really is a crap shoot.

I remember the Mets top 3rd base prospect Baty got called down to the minors a few weeks ago. He was batting .142 vs MLB pitching.

The talent gap between AAA vs MLB must be enormous.

Lest we forget Mike Trout in his rookie year hit .220/.281 /.390

You're trying so hard to troll, you think dinging a 21 year old kid for having 1 XBH in his first 29 MLB at bats is even worth mentioning? Pathetic.

I don't really care what the kid does, it's a lost season. Let him get some MLB experience and coaching, eat some MLB post game spreads, show him what he's working for. Do you think anyone cares what he does with the plate the rest of the season? He's not a bat-first player. His game is speed, glove, arm. Anything he does with the stick is a bonus.

Go outside and log off the internet for a while. Or keep typing, it just illustrates how much of a blowhard you are. You can't even troll correctly. Weak sauce.

Defense matters now? Hmm, that's interesting because Cardinals fans were selling Jordan Walker as the next Trout, and he literally cannot play an lick of defense in right field.

I believe the expectation for Jordan Walker was better than literally the worst defensive outfielder in baseball. We should check the receipts....

 Bob absolutely cares what he does. His own team is in a playoff chase, but Fastpass Bob chooses to nitpick the first 9 games of a rookie's career and constantly post about the White Sox. What a miserable existence.

I told you the International League is a bandbox, and expect an OPS 100-200 points lower moving from AAA to the Majors. That's what it's been like for Cubs players jettisoning between the levels this year. Don't be butthurt because my prediction came true. You hear what you want to hear.

Except that it didn't, and you're still an idiot. You have an odd concept of butthurt, but that's just because you are projecting. Go worry about your own team you bitter old fuck.
