I don't know...maybe these lawsuits have merit, but even the best earplugs have limits. They're not going to prevent 100% of hearing loss or tinnitus if someone is testing major weapons generating over 120 db of sound pressure. If they were truly defective, the hearing loss would have been noticed immediately, not ten years later.

i dont get it either. they must have documentation from the original product development testing to show they wouldnt work in the situations they were being sold for. and military contracts have specs in great detail.

if the army is talking 170 decibels and above for artillery blasts, the army should get sued for allowing only plugs. i use headsets around 140-150 decibels at the most and what's optimal is using reusable plugs and headsets. recently had my faa hearing test and the nurse told me that so many younger people misuse earbuds as a substitute, that many 30 y/o have the hearing of a 50 y/o. they're getting noise on top of more noise. what i've learned from the training and medical staff, hearing loss is irreversible.

The stories my Dad tells about artillery time in the army in the 60's was basically cover your ears with your hands. How he can hear anything is beyond me.

I know, I know, it's dubious.

I have tinnitus from loud concerts as a teen. I should sue Ticketmaster.
