A Cubs loss the NL wildcard will really tighten up with multiple competitors winning.

Cubbies went from an 81% chance of making playoffs to 71% in one day.

The Math Gods are nervous.

brewers were down 3-0 and came back to win, the cubs went down 3-0 and were flat and didn't come to life until they were down 6-0 with 3 outs left. the last series of the year against milwaukee meant the cubs had a plausible cushion of: could be 1 game back as series started/take 2 out of 3 in that series/win the division by having the tie-breaker. going 2-6 in their last 8 has just about made that moot.

All the Cubs series left are 3 games. They can't afford to lose any. Grandpa will be under a lot of pressure the rest of the way. Stroman as a closer? Would be interesting how injury prone he is and strategically woven into chasing a big contract.

I think it’s inevitable he exercises his option and stays next year.

Why didn't Swanson just catch it in the air? Then game over. Doing a little shuffle to get in position to throw it to first. Did he not know it never hit ground?

What a way to lose.

Couldn’t get that last strike.

These guys may be out of a playoff spot by Monday

Swanson looked like he was wearing lead boots on the deflected liner.

Grandpa going to take some heat for pulling Smyly.

Whole different ab's for D'backs when they didn't get suckered into chase.

Boog pounding velo big-time..

my class is about to start but out of all the WC teams the cubs are clearly on the downtrend.

Dbacks will def get a spot and I think it'll be between the Marlins and Reds. Giants I'm not too sure about as they dropped 2 today to the Rockies.

The only team that I think can beat one of the first round teams, Philly or Brewers, are the Dbacks.

Well the collapse is slow and methodical which makes it a little easier to take.

It’s not like they’re playing great then drop 6 games out of nowhere.

Already thinking to next season. They sort of were a surprise team this year. That’s hard to repeat the following year. Even if they resign bellinger and maybe get some quality relievers it’s going to be hard repeating the play from July and August

I don't recall what the format is, but whatever spot you get to play Milwaukee is the spot you want. Counsell LOVES being the smartest guy in the room in the playoffs.

Even he will start Burnes, Woodruff and Peealta the first 3 games.
