This entire scenario is eerily similar to Mitch and is kind of what you have come to expect during the George McKaskey era.

You bring in the wrong GM, usually some dude that looked good because he was an understudy to a competent GM. The GM then tries to prove he is smarter than everyone else and squanders your draft picks and cap room.

You bring in a first-time coach that looked good because he was an assistant for a good NFL coach, he is quickly overwhelmed because he is unprepared for the multiple tasks you must be able to master as an NFL head coach.

You miss on a QB and rather than moving on quickly you try to hide his incompetence by hiding him in the preseason and using the useful idiots that make up the "Bears Media" to tell everyone he is ready to, "make that next step", or in the case of Mitch, "ready for the 201 version of the offense". You also hand the job to an unproven guy and do not draft a developmental QB.

You see unprepared teams that are thoroughly outcoached on a weekly basis, with failures to make in game and game to game adjustments because your HC is not ready to lead men and has hired first time or rejects as his OC.

Rinse and repeat.

Awww its cute that Goff is worried about Justin Fields ability to make money and health . I wonder if he wouldve had the same sentiments about Mitch ?

Maybe he shoudl have had the gall to not take millions of dollars for not being able to play QB properly.

He's letting brothahood cloud his thinking and will soon realize it. As bad as Getsy seems to be, he is not trying to make Justin a 'white' QB. He's trying to make him a NFL QB. During the times Moore is waving his arms and clapping for the ball, he would agree.

Nope its ride or die with these people . You’ve already seen this years narrative play out this week, its the coaching . Then, after this season if the Bears choose to let Fields go, it will be now he’s going to really show what he can do with another team and good coaches !! and if that doesn’t happen it will
because the Bears ruined him what do you expect from him after that ????

if a running QB isn't sustainable for either a career or a playoff run, why even draft a running QB in the first place

At Ohio State he was a passing quarterback who could run, not a running quarterback.

There’s an argument that top tier college QBs are always playing at a talent advantage, hitting wide open guys with more room to separate given the wider spread in the college game.

That argument collapses when you watch video after video of Fields failing to throw to wide open guys in the NFL.

I’m thinking he’s just extremely slow at processing. He can react quickly and is insanely athletic, but he can’t take in information and make decisions inside of a couple seconds.

The flip side of that argument is that Fields didn't always throw to wide open guys at Ohio St.While his receivers did break wide open on deep routes pretty frequently, he also threw into tight coverage with some regularity. That much is clear on his highlight tapes.

My belief is that his problems are twofold:
1)He hasn't yet adjusted to the speed and complexity of NFL play.
2)He doesn't trust his receivers.

I think he sees the open receivers but he doesn't trust himself or those around him to make the necessary plays. Who knows if he ever will.

He trusts Kmet and Mooney

I want to see Fields making quick reads and throwing into tight coverage at Ohio State.

Go look at his highlights on YouTube. They're there. The bombs to wide open receivers significantly outnumber his throws to guys who were covered, but the assertion that he didn't make big passes in tight coverage is a myth.

The better question is why did they hire Getz who can't design an offense and develop an extremely talented qb.
