More than likely, Atlanta will have nothing to play for and Milwaukee definitely has nothing to play for. So the schedule hypothetically, couldn't be easier. What IS interesting is the last 3 games are against Milwaukee. A possible 6 straight games at Milwaukee.

Braves have lost 4/5 and only 4 up on home field in the NL.

They have something to play for when the cubs come to town.

Hendricks struggling each inning. finally caught up to him

bats look dead vs this bum pirate pitcher.

Swanson error cost them this inning. his bat and field has glove both have gone to shit. he def tired and probably should have had a day off about 2 weeks ago.

pathetic

Ross rewards Canario's huge game 2 nights ago with the next 2 games on the bench.

Fins and Reds off tonight. Win today and you go 1 up or lose and be tied.

Pirates winning because they're not swinging at the junk pitches Hendricks usually gets guys out on.

Cubs bats dead

Every once in awhile even a mult idiot like HY can say something smart. If you cant beat the Pirates you don’t deserve to be in playoffs

Not to blame the home plate umpire for the loss, but Suzuki got screwed on in the ninth. Swanson hits the homer, cubs down by two, maybe some momentum then the ump calls the first pitch a strike when it was clearly outside then calls strike three on a pitch that was never close.

Why didn't Ross go out to home plate and argue the call, at least delay the game a bit, make the closer stand on the mound a bit.

Just saw the replay on the three run homer by the Pirates in the ninth. Slider, slider, slider. Fowler on the postgame wondered why they kept throwing slider when the hitter was obviously geared for it.

every club goes through times where they fail to advance runners, stretches of poor situational hitting...nor hit in the clutch. some clubs more than others. the cubs pitching has dropped off a cliff. last 2 games, 21 runs at home against the weak-hitting pirates. cubs team ERA up to 4.11, .37 more than the brewers. tomorrow, taillon goes.

i'd like to see and hear the media grill hottovy a bit. wesneski, taillon, thompson and killian. hmmm, can't do anything with cuas? sure, because he can't seem to do anything with the other pitchers mentioned.

yeah. not sure why tauchman is still playing..the future is on the bench. the last 2 games, tauchman has nothing to do with the outcome, the cubs pitching got lit up. i'd like to see him play the kids. pca in center, morel at 3rd, canario DH. tauchman and masterbuoni won't be starters next season. may not even be on the club.

what a fucking asshole to say something like this when the bucs team kicked your ass the last 2 days

next 3 games with colorado all 120 starts. just great. these fuckers got hung over all night the last series when the games started at 120. maybe it'll actually help them.

Went back and watched the top of the 9th fiasco on the archives. Bonehead play by Miles Mastrobuoni didn't pump fake to freeze the runner in the rundown. Happ on the play got lucky though he didn't throw to the cutoff man. Cubs on pace for 90 errors (96 in '22). Grandpa's 3 choices at 3B all weak D.

Grandpa cracking under the pressure unprovoked belittling a young hustling (29th payroll) Pirates team. Funny coming from Grandpa usually the king of fake praise.

Boog & JD went heavy on the Julian Merryweather praise right before the wheels fell off.

I'd like them to get in, even though they'd probably lose two to a rested Milwaukee rotation. It looks bad that they are slumping now, but if they had the same slump in July nobody would have thought twice about it (and they would have traded Bellinger).

1. Ross has burned the starting position players out, because the depth which Hoyer allegedly acquired for them has been (with the exception of Tauchman) poor. I was actually in favor of getting Mastrobuoni because I had seen him play at Durham, but he's Morel-like defensively without the compensating bat.

2. They have gotten by on their defense up the middle. If Swanson or Hoerner do make an error and extend an inning, they are fucked.

3. Losing Alzolay is the killer, check out their record since he's been hurt. If it wasn't for Wicks and Assad turning in mostly good starts, they'd be 5 games out right now.

4. They wasted 2-3 games early in the season before they kicked Fulmer, Boxberger, and Thompson to the curb and shoved Alzolay, Merriweather, and Leiter into overworked positions in the bullpen.

5. Not going into the luxury tax for a first year was an ownership imperative this year. Not that there was much at the trade deadline to acquire besides Candelario, but not being able to improve upon Wisdom/Mancini/Hosmer/Mervis at 1B this spring was a killer, and that's on Ricketts.

I'm not a fan of Ross as an in-game manager, and his Durocher-like trend of burning his "circle of trust" out is damning. I don't think he will get fired this offseason, but if they aren't in at least 2nd place on July 1 next season he is going to be in trouble.

I guarantee you this team is going to be dogshit next season. What are the odds they repeat their July and august play from this season? Very low.

Every surprise cubs team I’ve seen ever that comes out of nowhere to contend goes to absolute shit the following year. I expect the same pattern in 2024.

Nardi went AWOL. I didn’t restart anything. I got a business to run now. Don’t have time to waste on this baseball shit.

I hated Vin Scully. Bored me to death. If I wanted to take a nap he was the best remedy

I more like a Walter Winchell style.
