Grandpa also mentioned Julian Merryweather recently on his long list of club MVPs.

Merryweather isn't an MVP or even an all star, but he has saved their ass on more than a few occasions after that disaster on Opening Day. In his other 64 appearances, he's given up zero runs 49 times, and one run 11 times.

So that's almost 1/3 of the games this season where Merryweather has given them a clean inning in relief.

I don't see how PCA starts the 2024 season on the big league team. He has too much to work on at the plate to avoid turning into the next Billy Hamilton. Let Canario start as the 4th OF with Tauchman as the 5th and Morel as the emergency OF. Let PCA get 60-70 more games on at Iowa to work on his hitting.

Speaking of Morel, hopefully he can work on his defense and be a passable 3B defensively next year until Matt Shaw is ready to get into an infield rotation.

Hoyer misfired on both Fulmer and Boxberger, probably because Ricketts wouldn't go over the luxury tax threshold. The bullpen is getting by on witchcraft.
