Reds blow a 9-0 lead to the pirates.

Pirates playing spoiler. They got the marlins next week.

Marlins won. Dbacks rained out.

Of course he posted about him in the Sox section

The Cubs meanwhile traded a promising outfield Nelson Velasquez because there was nowhere to put him. Canario and Pete Crow Armstrong will be pushing for MLB playing time by September.

Will be an interesting week coming up by itself. Then, will the Cubs losing the wild card first tie breaker head to head to all the other 4 WC teams still in the hunt have an impact. Also how motivated will the Braves & Brewers be with their positions set.

Down to 3 teams. Reds are done as are the Giants. It'll be two out of Cubs, Miami, and Dbags.

at AAA - against the same competition (intl. league) with nearly an identical amount of ABs (140), pca and canario were in virtual lock-step with offensive stats. with 13 plate appearances spread out over 2 weeks, i don't feel that pca is overmatched at MLB level. i felt he should have started the bulk of games since his call up.

PCA is overmatched in the mlb. He looks like a pitcher trying to hit

i disagree. sure, he hasn't looked good - no hits in 10 official ABs. we'll see how the rest of the year pans out. to me, this guy is the future, not tauchman....should have been playing every day. what i didn't like was the unnecessary panache of flicking up his glove at the last hundreth of a second to make routine catches.

he'll get a few hits, maybe steal a few bases, run down drives in the gap and you'll be in love him.

Reds dead 2½ out 6 left? Revisit remedial math then Google '51 Bobby Thomson miracle Giants wgn played on Cubs rain delays. Unlikely but who knows.

Bringing 21½ pca up in a pressure packed September pennant stretch is puzzling. Like to see him get a couple hits to break the ice.

He does seem to be someone who thinks that his shit doesn't stink. So 0-for-10 is a good humbling experience.

I think he will be a solid 10 year\4000 PA pro because his defense will carry him even if he's an 85 OPS+ guy who hits 9th. But I want to see him destroy AAA next year before he comes back. Morel went back and hit .330/.425/.730 in 134 PA. I'd like to see this kid hit .330/.425/.450 at AAA to feel comfortable that he'll be at least a 0.5 WAR hitter to go along with Gold Glove caliber defense.

could be, don't know him personally to say yes or no. he was interviewed yesterday am, and he sounded taken aback by something that haugh mentioned and followed up on. basically haugh wanted to know if kris bryant gave him a reach around on 1st base. a great ex cub passing the baton to the next great cub type of thing. i think pca wanted to say that bryant didn't know who the fuck he was.

he does seem arrogant in the way he goes about fielding (deservedly so?).

the hyphenated last name. i'm sure he didn't decide to go this way at age 7. i'd guess his mom wanted this and his dad was fine with it. i don't hold that against him nor will make fun of him for it. in an almost rarity for the 21st century, he has both parents involved in his life and scores of other family and friends supporting him.

I think you need a course in math. Fangraphs gives the Reds a whopping 7.8 percent chance of making the playoffs.

L blach gets the start for the rockies and ross goes with canario in CF. wisdom starts at 3B.

got to win today. after today, could be a bit easier to see if the cubs will need to optimally go 4-2 or 5-1 in their last 6. i believe steele has a start in atlanta and scheduled for the last game of the year in milwaukee. i'm hoping they won't need him to pitch 7-8 innings next sunday...maybe, not at all. exciting week.

Have a feeling that Pitt series will do them in.

If they tie with any of the other teams they are done. They have to be a game ahead to get in.

That homer was entirely predictable. The pitcher was toast.

Merryweather has 17 holds, 2 saves, and 1 blown save. He hasn't given up a run in 3/4 of his appearances (52 out of 66).

He's a little bit like prime Carlos Marmol. It's a bit of an adventure but he usually gets there.
