As a fan of a team that also had playoff aspirations but failed spectacularly I feel your pain and hope next year is better.

Pretty rude of Yelich to be sitting against the LF wall eating a brat when Wisdom was up in the 10th.

I'm extremely upbeat about the future but....

10 of 22 blown saves in September (45%).

6-14 last 20

Since Sept 5th 18 errors of 91 total (20%)

Vaunted defense on pace of 4 less than '22

Grandpa Fri postgame "Only a little bit of tightness".

yeah, with ice on his knee, maybe nico can think about all that. total spasm. squeezes the sawdust out of the bat and hits his own knee trying to jerk his 10th HR of the year. even arraez at .350+, has more HRs. stop trying to jerk the ball, nico. take the ball up the middle/right side and field the balls you're supposed to and vito won't post about you anymore.

Hoerner is a solid 2B with strong Sept, year risp, high leverage, late & close numbers. Much more durable with career highs this season also.

i won't argue nico, overall. he is in the bottom % of HRs for 2nd basemen.

you post every week mocking boog and his assessment of the cubs' middle infield. i don't think you mean swanson, by himself. you've posted this with a bit more frequency in the past month...yeah, nico gets tight. cubs battling for a playoff spot, he gets tight with runners on base. bobbling balls and wild flips. sorry. that's just his defensive play.

offense...it's obvious he is not relaxed batting in high leverage situations. he tried to jerk an inside pitch to the kinnikinnic river and hit his knee. morel playing 2nd tonight. we see what we see. i hope it's a one-off, maybe he's a bit fatigued. hopefully, next season he'll avoid the mishaps.

to me, it's one thing to hit a double against the reds in the 8th inning and cubs ahead 9-4. it's another, losing to arizona 3-2 in the 7th and rolling over and grounding to ss with a runner on 2nd and 0 out. i don't want to pick on him, others have messed up too.

Should be 7-6 Brewers, why even have replay?

marlins came back again and are winning. looks like it won't matter what the cubs do today.

so I see the line on Wicks 6 ER in 3 innings.

Maybe the league's figuring out this kid. It'll be interesting to see what he does next year.

Texas/Mariners on too. that seems more interesting and Texas is trying to avoid a year end choke job with 2 games left.

my update thing on my phone says Canario hit a triple.

All this guy has been doing is hitting extra base hits and he gets rewarded by riding the bench the next 10 games.

PCA fucks up almost every play , but gets to play in the game the next day.

I can only come up with one conclusion - Baez/Contreras was right - Ross has a prejudice against Latino players.

I enjoy Boog's GG shtick that the middle defense will bring them to the promised land while their error team total is close to last year's bad defensive team.

You can over analyze all you.want. If Alzolay doesnt get hurt, Cubs are in the playoffs.

They found an ace and a closer. No untradeable contracts. Minor league talent getting better. If one prospect like pca flops it won't be the sky is falling. Most will fail but hopefully there'll be gems in the mix. I was never all in on this '23 team it's too early.

it was a fun season. the last 3 weeks made it even more interesting. I hope next year they don't go to shit like I've predicted. There is some hope. I just think they need to get a new manager to take them to the next level. Sticking w/ the guys was bullshit. Tauchman was an automatic out for the last month. Dansby should have sat at least a day or two down the stretch. Canario should have played to give some of these guys a blow.

Bullpen - maybe we'll hear now how injured a lot of these guys really were.

I had fun. I had fun with you guys here too. it was fun to look forward to cubs games this season hours before the first pitch.

you have to give credit to a depleted marlins club. credit, for sure. pitching starters out, .350+ arraez out. they came back against the mets in that rainy 9th in new york and the very next day - came back against the pirates in the 1st game of this series and also pulled away from the pirates in a tie game in game 2 of this same series. pirates really should have won that 1st game, reynolds and hayes were brutal with runners on base.

at the same time, the cubs greased their path and arizona's path with a dismal final 3 weeks of the season.

the marlins swept a series at home against atlanta right before the cubs played the braves, and we all know what happened to the cubs in atlanta. the marlins also boosted by arizona's fall, arizona has lost their last 3 in a row. good chance miami ends up as the #2 wild card.

yeah. i was indifferent towards ross. i realize his hands were tied on resting a swanson, when madrigal got hurt. not the case with hoerner. his instincts run hot/cold. helped suzuki with his reset. knows when morel loses all discipline at the plate and is entering the shitter, hitting-wise. at the same time, no instinct/intuition to sense a mastrobuoni is leveling off, gomes needs a break..etc. j.d. mentioned that gomes hadn't hit a HR since late july - 2 months, no HR from C position when gomes starts.

cubs will finish the year with a better team ERA than both arizona and miami, yet, each of those clubs will beat us out. why? one-run games. is that on ross? at the same time, the brewers' team era is .35 better than the cubs. 6 games a week is 2 less runs a week. 8 a month. 40 over a season. sprinkling 40 less cub opponents' runs against the cubs over the season and they win the division.

i'm more suspicious of hottovy and his talents. i remember arrieta on the orioles. he reminded me of jose de leon of the pirates/sox, early-mid 80's, fantastic stuff, no command. chris bosio worked with arrieta and we know what happened to arrieta. what's going on with taillon, wesneski, thompson and killian? not to mention the relievers. too many. too much smoke to ignore a fire.

if they don't resign bellinger next year this team is fucked. I think he brings intangibles to the ballclub that you may not get w/ signing another FA
