Heading to Vegas in a few weeks to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Haven't been since around 1999. Has anything changed?

Staying at the MGM. Going Thursday to Monday. Got tickets to Vegas Golden Knights vs Chicago Bedards for Friday with the amazing start time of 3:00 local. How great is that for a friday in Vegas. Go to the game, it's over by 5:30 and then you have the rest of the night in Vegas to do whatever.

Seeing Cirque Du Solei O on Sunday.

Lined up a murders' row of restaurants for our 4 dinners:

Best Friend
Border Grill
Ocean Prime
Yardbird

planning to do a self guided go cart tour of the strip and downtown. it's a two seater go car type thing that has a speaker that does the tour as you drive around. Figure that's a good way to see the whole strip since I haven't been in 20+ years.

probably have a pool day weather permitting. Seems like end of October is right on the edge of pool season in Vegas.

Will try and play some poker while I'm there, but that's the only casino game I'm interested in.

Will hit up the sports book and bet some games since I'm there.

Stop one will definitely be a dispensary.

Any suggestions for things to do in Vegas? Besides donating a kidney to a hooker?

Spend a few dollars to join the Mile High Club if you aren't already a member.

Maybe you could donate the original lyrics from Severed Scrotum's "Clapton Pushed His Kid" for the permanent collection.

In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checkin' into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday.

I went last spring for the first time since around 2002. It has changed. First off very little is open 24 hrs now. Meals are outrageously priced. The buffets were over $30 for the Circus Circus type and half the steamers were empty. The strip was an absolute shithole. Reeked of pot and was littered with addicts. There were a few times walking where I tensed up bracing for some bum to attack. I don’t think I saw any casino that had over half the tables open or filled. Probably because there were almost no Asians.

You have to spend $100 at the sportsbook for 1 drink ticket. And no white russians because Kahlua is a premium alcohol.

Someone was talking about the strip and how fucked up it is currently because of the upcoming F1 race. You can't just walk down the strip currently.

I'm going to be there for a day a couple of days ahead of you. Needed an inexpensive weekday stopover for a day between two west coast obligations, and it's been about five years since I've been there.

Unfortunately MGM dropped their relationship with Hyatt effective October 1, so I don't get the faster track hotel check-in, and that really sucks. But all I'm doing is stopping at the sports book for a couple of minutes, meandering my way up to the Aria for dinner at their Din Tai Fung outpost (first $30 comped on my room package) and then back to my room to get some work done before the next morning's flight to Phoenix.

I am not a gambler although I enjoyed low stakes entertainment like 2/4 limit poker back during the online craze, a little video poker, and equally cheap betting on ponies and greyhounds. If I want stress, I'd just work. The idea of playing $25 blackjack, no thanks...

The strip will continue to reek of pot the weekend I am there.

damn and I'm sure it will be more restrictive as it gets closer to race day. But I probagbly don't plan to do too much strip walking. Will cab it or take the free trains from hotel to hotel and just walk around each property. Can only do so much walking on hard surfaces with my back as it is.

Hopefully they have the track set up when we do the go car tour. I'd like to take it for a spin.

Siegfried & Roy are both dead. Roy got eaten by a tiger.

that's almost as obvious as when they told Lou Gehrig he had Lou Gehrig's disease

is it still not ok to put your boots up on the blackjack table while you're playing? What if I'm "juiced in"?

They'd line up your coke in the bathroom for you.

I'll be there for the GP. O is probably the best show but Love is my favorite. One is pretty good more dancing in that one.

I think U2 is playing The Sphere if watching the singer stop during a song and talk to the audience is your thing.

I already saw U2 live during the Joshua Tree tour back in 89ish. I'm good.

Glad to hear about O. I booked it and then saw there were like 4 other Cirque shows in Vegas and I immediately had regret that maybe I picked the wrong show. I saw Mystere in 1997 and thought it was great.
