Fields was brilliant on the 15 completions. The 14 incompletions were on Getsy and the coaching staff. The touchdown throws were all Fields ignoring Getsy and just playing free. The non touchdown throws were Getsy and the coaching staff hindering Fields potential.

The 27 first half points was all Fields. The lower second half production was all Getsy and the coaching staff.

Wish I could say that was hyperbole. Devils advocate . Did Fields play that much better at the quarterback position than that no name guy from Washington did? Who was getting the ball out on time, who was evading pressure in the pocket and moving around? I think I also saw somewhere that the Redskins also have a bottom three secondary? Plus Thursday night games aren’t a real good indicator of how teams play . Washington shit all over themselves in the first half and by then the damage was done.

Fields has been amazing. Maybe it finally got to him when every NFL analyst was doing "Why didn't Fields throw to this wide open player?" videos every week. Defenses are going to adjust but there is a real reason for optimism.

I am honestly not trying to take anything away from him. Here's where I'm at:

Great first half. A few exceptional throws that were awesome by any standard.

He did get shut down in the second half. The defense adjusted. That Moore TD at the end was a seven hard hitch route that was nearly intercepted. If the defender doesn't gamble Moore is tackled immediately (but it would have been a first down catch).

Even if you want to say the Commanders were missing most of their secondary, which is true, Fields still had to make throws, and he did. So credit to him...for a half. I really don't think one game should get anyone excited. He has to string a bunch of these together to transform where his mean performance is at imo. Otherwise the mean Fields performance is still inadequate absent more performances like first half Denver and first half Washington.

THe last TD pass to Moore was thrown high. If the ball was where it was supposed to be it would have been a pick 6.

But still some reason for cautious optimism. Still a long way to go until I would be prepared to hitch your wagon to him for the long term.
