I recently watched the Dirty Harry marathon over the weekend. They only had the first 3 of the 5 movies :

Dirty Harry
Magnum Force
The Enforcer

These movies were from 1971, 1973, and 1976.

I probably have not watched any of these for a good 35/40 years.

I enjoyed them all.

man the rape scene in death wish 1 is too intense. i know they had just got rid of the censors but the directors took it way too far.

this scene would never make it on air today.

these 70s movies where crime was rampant, worse than today, would make a great comeback these days with the current lawlessness and crime in our cities.

dirty harry and death wish movies have the same theme as many of the right wing anti-city arguments do today.

if you lived thru the 70s you know how violent it was. much more worse than what's going on today.

in death wish, when he goes to arizona, the arizona ppl are like why do you stay in that shithol NYC. so much crime. why cant you guys carry guns like out here. same arguments we hear on fox news these days.

Reagan wasn't perfect but that motherfucker came in and cleaned our cities up good and brought back law and order. you got to give him that.

there would be huge money to be made making movies like dirty harry death wish if some smart hollywood writer type would start to produce some.

hello caller bob?

yes was just about to post this

i'm watching death wish 2 now, the rape scene in this one is worse! full frontal nudity, lewd sexual acts, they show bush and ass. I don't remember any of this back in the day.

there is a 2nd rape scene when they rape his daughter then she kills herself out the window. fuck.

it went from one end of the spectrum to the other. when you had a censor to no censor.

and this one featuring a young lawrence fishbourne doing the raping twice.

I mean, if we're not pioneers, what have we become? What do you call people who, when they're faced with a condition or fear, do nothing about it, they just run and hide?

I'm on your 3rd adventure now Paul. I think you did well . You should come back now and clean up the streets.

After watching the first 2 movies and remember the 1970s, I think I understand now why the government started putting fluoride in the water. it was easier to control the primal violent nature of people.

My Dad took me to see Tightrope when I was 11. I assume he thought it was just another Dirty Harry movie. A young Franky T saw some stuff that night

I remember him telling me on the way home "don't tell your mother about that movie"

i don't know about that. are the numbers of the 70s confined to certain areas of big cities? i grew up here and no one would shoot you in the 70's for taking out your garbage. nyc/chicago were more densely populated back then. i also believe more people reported crime back then, today, lots of crime isn't reported because snitches don't get stiches, they get shot. whole neighborhoods know things but play stupid - and that's if they're asked to talk because someone is dead on the sidewalk and cops are there by default.

did you make a police report when you got beat up recently?

what you got right was 70's/mid 80's and bush. lots of it.
