The most athletic guy on a club level college baseball team is usually the back up chubby catcher

Hmm, I never really thought about it. It would be WR right?

Justin and Lamar seem like freakishly great athletes. Tom Brady not so much. Lol

Cornerback is the most "athletic" position in football if we're using "athletic" as code.

As I recall the conversation, Qb was the best athlete growing up

I'll verify whether I misheard (assuming they post that part of the podcast) but I doubt their point is true even at the high school level.

Ahh yes typically especially for option systems. Otherwise it was the RB.

If Lawrence agreed to QB being the best athlete in NFL, it would be bigger news than Leila saying it to begin with.

The relevant part starts around 6:55 and goes to around 10:00. I concede Laurence mentioned lower levels and when Leila jumped in with her "the best athlete on every team typically is the QB" comment I took it as all levels including the NFL.

https://www.audacy.com/podcast/bernstei ... ur-3-96f00

They are arguing that it's not just a Luke Getsy or Matt Nagy problem, but a leaguewide issue where most of the NFL refuses to revamp the traditional playbook to accommodate or unlock the greatness of the player who is equal passer/runner (or mostly runner). That they will eventually have an epiphany to put the ball in the best athlete's hands on every play, regardless of whether that leads to winning football or increased fatigue and injury. They want an offense where the QB is encouraged to go off-script at will, essentially making it playground ball...not something that works in the NFL.

It’s been this way forever. Some media and fans don’t get that you cannot run a QB of any color 3 out of 4 plays to get pounded. A ton of reasons but not the least is when he inevitably gets hurt you’re fucked because your backup isn’t the guy you designed around.

It’s just plain silliness. If they were right the super bears would have no QB and Walter would take every snap from shotgun and run around.

I am looking at the thread title, and the correct answer is LoHo.

But does he swallow? (Asking for a friend)

Larry Holmes was talking about best athletes in high school as QBs. Best HS athletes sometimes weren't intellectually equipped to be a QB. Most gifted athletes were RBs who a lot of times had knee injuries because of the beating they took on a run emphasis offense due to unadvanced passing games.

One of the roots of this position is the line of thinking that brought us the "Appreciate. Greatness." mindset that now permeates the NBA and is/was centered on LeBron. Not to say that they think Justin Fields is Football LeBron, it's just that wanting to completely re-think how an NFL team schemes its offense is the kind of insanity that can only be seriously posited by the kinds of people who love to tell you how much they love to see certain kinds of athletes impose their will on their sport.

This argument is a second cousin once removed of "the best college team could beat the worst NFL team." Okay. Throw out the playbook and just have the quarterback Hang Out And Do Whatever. An NFL defense will eventually crush his bones into dust.

I remember when Dumb Arguments was a special caller-participation bit, not just a normal segment.

Do not listen to WSCR often these days, but based on the comments here it seems the WSCR mid-day show has devolved significantly over the years.

Doubtful the station would have made it six weeks if they had trotted out Bernstein and Holmes instead of the Monsters in the beginning.

His usual appearance is on Monday's, but no Dan Wiederer on the show today. The morning show had DJ Moore on today and he is normally a Monday guest. It may be related to the holiday schedule and they can do this again next week with New Years, but there's also the possibility that Laurence is upset with Wiederer. Laurence did take a shot at Wiederer in transition, telling Haugh to be ready for a fight on their podcast (Haugh with Wiederer) after Haugh criticized Getsy's play calling.

Larry and Danny must have been totally embarrassed and emasculated by guys like Mac and North back in the day when they brought these rather inept football takes to the table during production meetings, likely the reason why they hate both guys.

They are like doctors that never consult specialists for second opinions because they think they know it all, the patient always dies in the end.

Listening now…Leery planting his flag that he’s the only one concerned about Williams as a player.

He’s radio Nas.

He's concerned about Williams, but Fields would be a superstar if he just had the perfect offense, offensive coordinator and talent around him.

That's pretty much Laurence Holmes "expert" take.

Listened this week for a first time in a while.....what I got.....Larry is weirder than ever before

-A whole segment Larry talking about being a weed culture guy, but never smoking weed
-Then Larry talking about having colonscopys and loving the medicine
-Larry claiming he is bigger and more physical than Caleb Williams

Then Dan and Larry(so bizarre from twitter man Dan) saying a kid like Caleb doesnt know how to use twitter right. That Dan never likes anything, only retweets.

So......great show.

JERRY: I'm making a sandwich, you want one?
KRAMER: Oh, no, I won't have anything.
JERRY: Is everyone hearing this? Are we getting all this down?
KRAMER: Well, I'm going in for a...procedure.
JERRY: What procedure?
KRAMER: Colonoscopy. Gotta get checked out.
JERRY: Colonoscopy? You told us you just had one three months ago. Why do you need another?
KRAMER: Oh, I don't need another, I just want another.
GEORGE: Colonoscopy, after one of those, you...expel, right?
KRAMER: Ohhhhh you expel all right. And before it, what they give you...WHOA HO HO OWWW! It's like going to another universe!
JERRY: You never even made it to ours.
GEORGE: Quarterly colonoscopies. If I keep going in for these, I can be on unlimited medical leave. I'll always be in pre or post.
JERRY: Kramer, are you really just going in for the drugs?
KRAMER: JERRY, I'M HIGH-TRAFFIC! I GOTTA STAY INFORMED ON WHAT'S GOING ON IN THERE!
